Captured by Moonlight Nancy Gideon

NGideon-Captured by MoonlightIf I could, I’d shove Captured by Moonlight by Nancy Gideon (and the others in the Moonlight series) at you right now and stand by as you read them.  I’d be tapping my foot, telling you to hurry it up because we HAVE to talk about them right now.  Sadly that’s not possible.  But I can send a shout out and say GO GET THIS SERIES, READ THEM AND YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE.

A mysterious death begins a dangerous chain of events, forcing choices that mean no turning back as Max’s past catches up to him. But as the unexpected discovery of a family thought lost to him threatens the existence of Max’s paranormal world, his awakening senses strain the bond he shares with Detective Charlotte Caissie.

Driven by instincts he can’t control, Max fights the need to claim his human mate. How can he protect her when she’s not safe with him? She’s strong enough to keep his secrets, but can she survive the test of his love?

Separating business from pleasure just got more difficult. To have Max, Cee Cee must face her greatest fears by accepting who and what he is . . . someone deadly, unnatural and outside the law she serves. Loving Max Savoie isn’t easy, but holding onto him could prove fatal.

Captured by Moonlight throws Charlotte and Max in a scary situation as Trackers come to town and people start dying.  It touches both the NOPD and the world of the shifters and they both have to figure out what to do.  Charlotte and Max also have to deal with the uncertainty of their relationship.  Oh and Max runs into a family member he didn’t know he had.  To put it simply, this book is PACKED with heart tugging moments and on the edge of your seat action.

Charlotte Caissie is one of my favorite characters.  Although I do not have the guts that she does and most of the time I’m saying out loud ‘Don’t you dare go Cee Cee, STAY BACK’, she still ‘speaks’ to me.  She’s so insanely brave and spunky and determined, but she’s not stupid.  Yeah she sometimes should stay back instead of jumping in amongst the shifters, but the woman can fight and she knows she can handle it.  She’s a great cop, even if she is sleeping with the enemy, Max Savoie.

Oh Max, Max, Max, Max, how great you are.  I love his innocence, yet he’s tough and brave and a fighter like no one has ever seen.  The man doesn’t know how to drive and doesn’t know the difference between a baseball team and a football team!  But the dude can rip enemies apart in a blink of an eye.  Humans and shifters alike fear him, as they should, there’s a monster beneath those good looks.  But he’s someone you can trust with your life.

There are many scenes that come to mind that I’d love to share with you but I’ll only give you two. One is where Max plays baseball with the NOPD.  You have the cops who loath Max on one side and Max itching to have some fun and be a part of the team on the other.  I won’t tell you who wins that battle but it was very entertaining.  The next scene is at the end when these two forces have to come together again to save the people they love from the Trackers.  The cops watch in horror as Max shows his other side and you don’t know if they’ll join him or attack him.  Oh now that ending was intense.

I was in tears, seriously, at the end of the Captured by Moonlight.  When all those who were hurt, right there in front of you, were bleeding and dying,  I was watching their loved ones as they begged them not to leave, not to let go.  It hurt and I almost put the book down because I did not want to read those words that said it was over.  But I forced myself on, to read it because I had to know what happened…

  1. Oh, this is such a great review, and SO true! I’ve been there with Max and Cee Cee from the beginning, and fell in love with them from the first sentence on the page. Nancy is an incredible writer who is not afraid to torture her characters, and knows how to find the satisfying ending, all while suspending disbelief for the reader seamlessly! I’m with you, Nikki. Get these books! Read this series! Fall in love, like me! You won’t regret it.
