Zombies are a popular metaphor for apocalypse both in popular culture and mainstream academic pursuits, even being used by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for teaching emergency preparedness. This course uses current research and science on Catastrophes and Human Behavior together with the idea of a Zombie Apocalypse to learn about the nature, scope, and impact of catastrophic events on individuals, families, societies, civilizations, and the Earth itself.

Something tells me you’re not going to learn how to survive the initial Zombie Apocalypse, just the aftermath.  After all, I’m not seeing anything about how to decapitate a zombie or any kind of exercise regiment so you can be prepared to outrun said zombies. *grin*

Vicki Pettersson is going on tour!  She’s going on a 10 city tour starting June 4th to celebrate the release of her new novel, The Taken. Sadly, she only has one stop east of the Mississippi, but bonus for me it’s in Cincinnati.  Looks like I will be visiting my sister for a bit. *grin*  If you’re within a decent driving distance of Cincy, you should really think about coming.

Interesting.  It seems the Justice Department has decided to get into the debate over ebook prices.  According to the Wall Street Journal, the DoJ has sent warnings to Apple Inc and five other publishers of their intent to sue over the possibility that the six have gotten together with the intent of raising ebook prices.  This could mean lower ebook prices, but as with everything that deals with the law, we probably won’t see any change any time soon.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
