The Psy/Changling Read-a-long

NSingh-Slave to Sensation2013 is a busy year for readers of Nalini Singh. She has two new novels coming out in the Psy/Changling series this year! Wild Invitation on March 5th and Heart of Obsidian on June 4th. Now I don’t know about you but I haven’t read the entire Psy/Changling in a few years.  And before the big reveal in Heart of Obsidian (could we finally find out who the Ghost is?) I want to make sure I have all the little clues and at least make an educated guess.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who wants to re-read the series. Maybe there are some readers out there who are a behind and want to get caught up? Or maybe there are some readers out there who haven’t read the series at all?

So to make sure everyone is prepared for Heart of Obsidian, Literary Escapism will be hosting a read-a-long. We’ll be discussing the series, talking about what we liked, loved and could have lived without.  And maybe we can figure out who the Ghost is?

Here’s our full schedule…we’ll be reading a book a week with our discussions on Thursdays. It looks daunting but don’t let it scare you. The Psy/Changling series is worth it!

Slave to Sensation – the discussion Blaze of Memory – the discussion
Visions of Heat – the discussion Bonds of Justice – the discussion
Caressed by Ice – the discussion Play of Passion – the discussion
Wild Invitation – the discussion Kiss of Snow – the discussion
Mine to Possess – the discussion Tangle of Need – the discussion
Hostage to Pleasure – the discussion Heart of Obsidian – the discussion
Branded by Fire – the discussion

What’s that? You haven’t read the series yet? You don’t know if you would like them?  Well check them out at Nalini Singh’s page (plus she has a few free reads up to so you can check out her writing style as well). And when you decide you do want to read the series (because they are awesome!) you won’t have to read them alone.

Giveaway

Thanks to Nalini Singh and the wonderful people at Penguin, I have a copy of every single novel in the Psy-Changeling series, and while some of them have been claimed, all of them haven’t. So this is what we’re going to do – we’ll be giving away all the books in one shot at the end of the Read-Along. That means you have 13 different chances to enter for any one of the Psy-Changeling novels. Join in on any of the discussions and you’ll automatically be entered to win.

To enter, all you have to do is answer the question on each discussions page. The contest will stay open until July 1st, at which time we’ll determine the winners with help from this snazzy plug-in that Jackie has.

I teach Special Education and have three demented dogs. Between my students all day and my dogs all night my stress relief is reading. It is the only thing that keeps me from going crazy. Or should I say from going crazier? I read anything but I prefer fantasy, sci-fi and steampunk. I also love urban fantasy and historical romances. If it has dragons and magic, vampires and werewolves, crazy machines and corsets or aliens and spaceships then I’m happy. Mix in a Scotland laird or two every once in a while and I’m ecstatic!

  1. I loved this series so much i finished them all under a week and a half, i admit i have become obsessed a tiny bit, but it is a really good story, i’m so excited for Heart of Obsidian!

  2. I’ve read all of Nalini’s book from the first time Slave to Sensation hit the shelf. Every time a new one comes out I go back a few and re-read them. I’m really excited to join this. I think it will be great fun and very interesting?

  3. I love the Psy Changling series it’s my favourite series of books I’ve read the whole series loads of times I re-read every time a new book comes out and look forward to joining the discussion Very excited about the 2 new books especially Heart of Obsidian can’t wait

  4. This sounds like a lot of fun. I’ve been meaning to re-read the books, but at this point the task is so daunting (11 books! plus short stories!) that I had all but given up before beginning. Your hectic schedule might be just the thing to get me back on track, and I love discussing books as I read them, so double incentive!

  5. I’ve had these books on my TBR for a while now. This gives me a great reason to finally read them. I’m in.

  6. I have a couple of books in the series and have yet to read them. I guess now is as good as time as any to get started.

  7. Great Idea!! I though about it for a long time now and was just lazy to reread alone!
    the series are awesome !:)

  8. Oooooh! I can’t wait! I’ve done re-reads of this series when I should be picking away at my TBR pile, lol. It’s just so darn good! Really looking forward to this.
