Project Seduction
Jace Donovan is on the fast track at Illustra. He may have started out as a pleasure companion but his boss has promised him a major promotion if he can keep one extremely important client happy. Just one week aboard the interstellar cruise ship Trist for a bachelorette party and he’s free to put his wild youth behind him for good. Everything’s going according to plan until he realizes the mother of the bride is the one woman he could never forget.

Haunted by memories of her night with the mysterious Jace, Evie Ripley has no time to devote on her newly reawakened lusts. Her only child is about to make the biggest mistake of her life and Evie will do anything in her power to talk some sense into her daughter. Even if she has to go through Jace—and her own heart—to do it.

The Keeper Shelf

Now, right off the bat, I’ve got to tell you that I’m only speaking for one author: me. I have no idea what kind of reading habits other authors have, we’re unique creatures and you have to observe each in her own natural habitat. I can tell you that the freebie events at writer’s conferences get mobbed like rock stars, only with less torn clothing and smudged lipstick at the end. But this is about my personal reading habits.

I’ve always maintained that I was, and always will be, a reader first. I write to support my reading habit. I adore the escapism of the written word, of making new friends who don’t hesitate before involving me in their lives. But like all friends, some are closer to our hearts than others. For whatever reason, we connect on a deeper level and these books are the residents of our keeper shelves, so we can visit them whenever we choose.

A keeper shelf is a personal thing for a booklover. Whether it’s a drawer in a nightstand (check) a piece of plywood over two milk crates, (been there, done that), or a special section on an ereader (wave of the future) it’s all ours. Those collections say something about us, as readers, what we cherish and are passionate about. The stories that make it to my keeper drawer/shelf/e library, the writers I want to be like when I grow up.

What do my keepers have in common? Hmm, that’s a toughy because I love so many different genres, everything from mystery, to romance, to sci fi. Here are a few of my keeper authors/ series and why.

Patricia Briggs: I started with the Mercy Thomson series and then devoured her backlist like it was made of cheesecake. Still has a place of honor on my shelves because I reread usually once a year.

Kim Harrison: Love the Hollows world To me it keeps getting better and better. I would follow Rachel into the Ever After and back again.

Darynda Jones Charley Davidson series: With Death as the protagonist, you know you’re in for a thrill ride. And never mind the absolute delicious hotness that is the son of Satan.

Kresley Cole: I’m convinced she’s incapable of writing a bad book. Absolutely love the Immortal’s After Dark series and I preorder them months in advance as well as keep print copies. See, authors are fangirls, too.

One of my favorite moments as an author was when someone shelved one of my books under “keeper” on goodreads. Because I know how much my keepers mean to me, and tho think that my book meant that much to someone else, well, that’s a feeling worth keeping.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
