Mona Lisa Blossoming by Sunny

I’m really having trouble writing this review. Don’t get me wrong, Mona Lisa Blossoming by Sunny, the second novel in her Monere series, is just as captivating as Mona Lisa Awakening.  However, I’ve read it before and I think that’s what making it hard for me. I already knew the story going in and coming out of it, there was nothing that surprised me.  I’m getting ahead of myself again.  Here’s the gist of the novel…

Accompanied by a loyal cadre of warriors and kin, Mona Lisa enters her territory of Louisiana for the first time. She slowly learns the erotic and savage customs of the Monère elite—though some of her new subjects are uneasy at being ruled by one whose lineage is diluted with the blood of humanity. Her reign is threatened by enemies old and new, and she is ensnared in the thrall of dark forces she cannot deny. In a hidden world of animal passions and unrelenting lust, Mona Lisa soon grasps the tremendous power she must command if she is to hold her realm together…and if she is ever to come into her own.

Mona Lisa Blossoming continues with the great character and plot development.  We learn more about Mona Lisa and the Monere way of life; the relationship between Mona Lisa and her men get even more interesting; and we get some surprises in the conflictive forces that gather against Mona Lisa.  Even though I’ve read this novel before, I was still easily engulfed into the story.  With that said, it shouldn’t have caught me by surprise when I ended up in tears at the end.

Overall, there’s no doubt in my mind that this is a great series and Mona Lisa Blossoming is a great addition. I haven’t had a chance to read Mona Lisa Craving, but based on the first two novels, I know that it’s going to be just as great.  Although, I will say I’m intrigued with what Sunny did with Amber and Gryphon at the end of Mona Lisa Blossoming. I’ve seen the blurb for the next novel and I’m still trying to piece it together. Gotta love it when the author keeps you guessing with her novels.
