Cover Madness

Tez Says has posted the US cover for Aprilynne Pike’s followup to Wings. Spells will be released May 4, 2010.

Check out the cover for Kim Harrison’s Early to Death, Early to Rise, which is the  second Madison Avery novel.  This is the first I’ve heard of the title, and now we’re getting the cover as well. I found this over at Dark Faerie Tales, but for some reason, only my Google Reader is showing it and I can’t find it on her site anymore. Early to Death, Early to Rise will be released May 12, 2010.

Check out what has been posted.  It’s the first chapter to Divine Misdemeanors!  Just over a month and we’ll get this puppy in our hands.  Yippee.

Interviews:

I can’t remember if I posted this or not, but since it’s still in my inbox, I’m going to go with no. In Keri Arthur’s newsletter, she mentions that the release date for Mercy Burns, the sequel to Destiny Kills, has been pushed back to January 2011. However, that’s great news for Riley fans as the ninth (and boo hoo final) book, Moon Sworn, is a definite for a summer 2010 release date.

Kelly Gay has announced that the second Charlie Madigan novel will be titled The Darkest Edge of Dawn, which will be released August 31, 2010.

I have a new book to feature for you. I came across The Stories in Between is a collection of novels that includes a lot of favorite authors.

For thirty years, Between Books has provided the Delaware Valley with the absolute best in alternate entertainment—speculative fiction, comics, anime, and gaming. While other stores have disappeared, this shelter from the tides of bitter reality has remained, enduring by providing the finest in every genre, by stacking every shelf, every nook, cranny and tiny space in between with the strange, the beautiful and the terrifying. Now they have brought together many of the authors who have entertained the visitors to their hallowed walls in a collection so splendiferously diverse, it defies conventional description.

John Passarella brings us a new Wendy Ward story in which a curse meets its match. A scientist opens her personal Pandora’s Box in a tale by Maria V. Snyder. Gregory Frost finds an Old One in the noir. A roving nightmare auditions a new cast member in a chilling tale by Jonathan Maberry. Catherynne M. Valente paints a hauntingly beautiful picture of Hell. Pleasure and longing collide in a story by CJ Henderson. Memory, loss, and comfort coalesce in a story by Jonathan Carroll. All these and more await you in The Stories in Between.

Maria Snyder is posting another Study story via her website.  Ice Study features my favorite couple, Yelena and Valek, and the third part of the story should be posted sometime this month.

The Oddshots has any intersting quiz for fans of the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh.  Have you ever wondered which race you would be with if you were in that world?  Take the quiz and find out.  I did, and strangely, I either kind of tied or am a Changeling.  It depends on how I answer the sixth question and I could go either way with that one.  I’m probably more Changeling though.  I am way too emotional sometimes.

There’s a few more covers that were shown off over at Dark Faerie Tales. I’m not really familiar with any of these, but they do have some pretty wicked covers. So check these out: Smolder by Melina Morel (January 5, 2010); Don’t Kill The Messenger by Eileen Rendahl (March 2, 2010); and Betrayal by Gillian Shields (August 8, 2011).

Contests:

  • Katie MacAlister is giving away several ARCs of her upcoming novel, Steamed. Contest ends
  • Teens Read and Write is giving away a slew of YA novels (I’m talking double digits).  Contest ends Nov. 15th.
  • It’s not a contest per say, but it relates to contests.  Melissa Marr has ARCs of Radiant Shadows and she has outlined how she is giving them all away.  Make sure you head over and find out how, she has 40 of them!

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
