Show the Love

Again, what would we do without Urban Fantasy Land?  Yesterday, they posted the news that J.F. Lewis was recently kicked out of his non-denomiational church for his debut novel, Staked.  I don’t know what to think of this.  Honestly, we’re talking about an author who created fictitious characters in a fictitious world.  Nothing about the novel has occurred in real life, correct me if I’m wrong, but the church actually accused him of “committing the sins contained within it [Staked]”.  It shocks and amazes me that people would have this mentality regarding paranormal novels.  There’s more discussion going on over at Asimovs.com forum, but if you want to show some love to JF Lewis, then head on over to his website.  He’s also one of the adolescent adults at A League of Reluctant Adults (such a great site).  Here are a few other places sharing the love: Jackie Kessler, UFLand interviews Lewis,

After reading this, I went straight to the library to get my hands on a copy of this.  It’s been in my virtual TBR, but with the 20 physical books already waiting for me, I was waiting until my pile went down a little.  That’s changed now.

Interviews:

Laurell K. Hamilton posted the cover for The Laughing Corpse #5. I just picked up the first couple of issues (actually, they were just sent to me, but have been sitting around waiting for some other comics to come in), so I need to get to those. There are a few other pages up at her blog, so if you’re curious, I would check them out.

There’s some great news by Sherrilyn Kenyon.  If you’ve read One Silent Night, then you obviously know about the story arc twist.  Well, One Silent Night started a new one, but it also started a new spinoff series.  Nick is going to have his own series called The Chronicles of Nick.  It’s going to start when Nick first meets Kyrian and Acheron and a lot of the original characters from early on will be around. There isn’t a release date yet, or a working title for the first novel, but we just have to be patient.

So check out what I just came acrosss….The Dracula Library, which includes books either on vampires or by vampire-related authors.  Talk about a great place to go looking for new novels.  You can also find novels on all of our other favorite paranormal creatures by going to the parent library site – CESNUR Library.

CONTEST ALERT – Jeaniene Frost has a contest going for a copy of At Grave’s End, which comes out at the end of December. The contest is only on until midnight on Friday.

Kat Richardson’s fourth Greywalker novel, Vanished, has a new cover. You’ll be able to get your hands on this beauty on August 4, 2009.

The cover for Rachel Caine’s fifth Morganville Vampire novel, Lord of Misrule, is out.  You know, I wasn’t crazy about the first couple of covers, but by the third one, her covers have gotten a lot more interesting.  Lord of Misrule is out on January 6, 2009.

Marta Acosta is over at Lori Devoti’s 30 Days of Vampires.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
