I finally got a chance to read the eighth book in Laurell K Hamilton’s Merry Gentry series, Divine Misdemeanors and I have to say I’m not too upset that I waited to read it.
You may know me best as Meredith Nic Essus, princess of faerie. Or perhaps as Merry Gentry, Los Angeles private eye. In the fey and mortal realms alike, my life is the stuff of royal intrigue and celebrity drama. Then she gets kidnapped by Taranis, the King of Light and Illusion or the Seelie King, and is raped. Swallowing Darkness is picking up where Lick of Frost had ended. Meredith is in the hospital, plotting ways of punishing Taranis for what he has done. However, through all of …

Welcome to my alternate reality. Escaping into new worlds, meeting new characters and exploring different societies is the only way we have of leaving the harsh reality of life behind us...if only for a little bit.
