I got to thinking recently about all the authors I typically recommend. There are some heavy favorites, and not just by me, on my list, but I started wondering…am I missing someone who I’ve read and have simply forgotten to add? I’ve read a lot of new authors since then and I seriously have this feeling that I’m missing some great novels.
I’ll be honest, my list of recommendations was posted back in May of 2008 and I’ve to keep it updated, but it tends to be forgotten. Plus, I haven’t read all there is the UF/PNR genre, so I know I’m missing a bunch. So I want to ask everyone, what authors/series/books do you recommend to people.
This week, lets focus on only those books involving vampires and/or werewolves as the main characters. We’ll hit some of the other paranormal species next week. Here’s my list. Have I missed something? …

With all the Amazon and MacMillan drama that has been going on, I keep seeing posts about people boycotting ebooks to protest against the prices and that just really depresses me. Boycotting books doesn’t do anything to the publisher. They could care less in my opinion. They have a ton of other titles that they will get their money from and the number of people who actually do any boycotting really don’t make that big of a dent in their overhead.
HOWEVER, those boycotters do make a dent in an authors income and that is the part that hurts the most. I mean, if you think about it, a publisher will recoup their loses in some way. By not buying a certain book, you hurt the book sales and that’s it. That doesn’t tell the publisher that “oh we were wrong to price it at …

I couldn’t resist swiping one of these valentines for today. Isn’t it fabulous? Plus, there’s two others that are equally just as great. Anyway….
Happy Valentines Day Everyone!
Hopefully everyone is curling up with their own favorite monster today. Other than the hubby and the monkey, I’m planning on getting cozy with some fae (Radiant Shadows) and zombies (Happy Hour of the Damned), but in reality, I’m spending the day alone with the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Is anyone else watching the Vancouver Winter Olympics? What’s your sport? Mine is all the skating.

I know I’ve been a little quiet lately with the news and reviews, but this last week has been a killer. Jesse has been working third shift, which means it’s just been the monkey and I pretty much 24/7. Between that and being pregnant, I really haven’t been on the computer unless I had to be. I haven’t even been reading. Things are starting to get back to normal, so I should have a bunch of reviews for you by this weekend (fingers crossed). I’ll try and get some news posted tomorrow night. As for the reviews, here’s a quick review for the ones coming up:
- First Drop of Crimson by Jeaniene Frost – Loved it. Different tone than the Cat/Bones novels, but totally worked. Definite buy.
- Archangel’s Kiss by Nalini Singh – Closer look at Raphael’s Seven and I’m loving their interaction with Elena. Plus we get more Raphael. Another definite …

So I recently mentioned on my own site that I picked up a Motorola Droid for my new job and have been playing with it relentlessly. One of the many things I like to do when I have a moment of downtime is browse the android marketplace – lots of interesting things in there (I browse just the free section currently).
Anyways, in the marketplace there is an app that looks like a star trek tricorder. When I first saw it, I downloaded it thinking it would be a neat little image display that I could taunt my friend, The General, with when I see him later this year (he’s a big trek fan). I didn’t expect the damn thing to actually *WORK*.
