Race for the Cure Contest Winners

Today was the day. I walked a 5K for the first time and I did it for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.  It was quite an experience, but not a bad one.  It was such a madhouse in downtown Detroit today, that it was a bit much even for me.  It was loud, there were a ton of people around and it was just hard to get a good pace going.  But everyone was so nice.  You didn’t have any pushing or the general rudeness that is kind of typical at large events and it was really nice.

I did the race with my mom’s group and there were three of us on our “team”, plus our own bundles of joy.  Yes, I took Ian with me on the walk and he behaved really well.  He’s now three years old and he’s at that stage where he wants to walk, he’s too old for a stroller; but he never gave me a problem.  From the moment I strapped him in until the time I took him out, he didn’t complain once.  And it even rained halfway through the walk!  He was such a trooper.

As such, I’m in a really good mood tonight and I’m going to add two copies of Serpent Moon by CT Adams and Cathy Clamp to the contest.  You haven’t forgotten about that have you?  As a participant of the race, I was given a fundraising page and I totally took advantage of LE to help raise a little money.  We raised $333 for the Cure and I think that’s pretty good.  Yeah, it was a shameless plug contest, but I doubt the 13 winners I’m going to announce will complain too loudly.  *grin*

Normally, I determine the winners by inputting all the entries into the List Randomizer, scrambling it up a couple of times, and then have the Research Randomizer pick a number.  This time, I didn’t do that.  Nope.  Why you’re asking?  Because I only had 13 people enter the contest.  Thirteen people who took a moment to donate as little as $1 to such a worthy cause and they totally deserve something for it.  So, each person will get to chose any two books from the above list AND I’m adding one book, randomly selected from my shelves, in addition to a bunch of swag I picked up from RT.  I told you I was in a good mood.  ;P

Those wonderfully 13 individuals are:

  1. Audrey S (aka Drey)
  2. Belinda W
  3. Bethany C
  4. Cherry Mischievous
  5. Dawn W
  6. Erica N
  7. Janice Y
  8. Katie W
  9. Kelly M
  10. Kisah J
  11. Patricia A
  12. Ronica E
  13. Sandy G

I have already contacted all of you, so please check your inbox.  I do need everyone to send me the two books they would like, along with your snail mail info, and I’ll get them sent out.  As I hear from people, I’ll delete the ones that are taken.

Update: All the winners have contacted me, so I’ve taken the list down. Congratulations to all the winners again!

I want to personally thank everyone who entered the contest – you guys rock.  I also want to give a huge thanks to Random House, Bell Bridge Books and BenBella Books for donating most of the books for the contest.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Hi Jackie, I tried to respond to this yesterday and it didn’t work so I will try again. I would love to get Spiders Bite and Once Bitten if they are available. If Spiders Bite has been claimed can I have Twice Dead I think it was called, it’s by the same author as Once Bitten. Thanks. I hope my donation helpped out I only wished I had more to give, especially since I lost my sister to breast cancer.
