Embrace the Night by K. Chance

I was caught with Touch the Dark and I am still enthralled with the Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance. Her third novel, Embrace the Night, focuses on Cassandra trying to find a way to break the geis that was placed on her by Mircea when she was a child, which was accidentally doubled on his side in Claimed by Shadows. Cassandra really grows in this novel and she begins to realize that she needs to take charge of her life and not allow others to try and push their desires on her. We also learn more about the war mage, Pritkin, and a couple of demons make an appearance. While their visit was a little short, I am thinking we will be seeing a lot more of them later on.

Overall, the novel was awesome. Chance didn’t let us down with her third installment and I can’t wait to see what is in store for Cassandra in book four (which there has been no mention of yet). These books have captured me so much that I am going to take a chance on her new series – Midnight’s Daughter, which comes out in October 2008. If you love vampires and you’re looking for something a little different, then you definitely need to check out this series. Karen Chance is easily becoming one of my top authors and I will be buying this book as soon as I get a chance.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Cool. There are so many new books out there with vampires they can merge into each other at times. It’s always good to see a review about one that is a little different. I just picked up a copy of this and am definitely looking forward to starting the series now thanks!
