The Home Stretch: Baby Pool Update

Remember the Help Name the Newest Monkey Baby Pool that was posted back in April? Well, on May 30th we announced the name for the newest monkey – Simon – however, we’ve since then decided to go with a different middle name.  There’s just something about Simon Isaac that we’re not feeling as much – any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  However the pool is still open and I thought I would give everyone a quick update.

Things are going well and I am in the home stretch. Technically, I have about 8 weeks more to go, but if Simon is anything like Ian, than I could be much lighter in just 6 weeks. For those who have kids, I’m sure you can know exactly how ecstatic I am for August to come around. *grin*

When the time does come, I will be taking a couple weeks off.  Simon is due right before Ian starts preschool for the first time, so things will be hectic.  So there won’t be any news posts during this time, but Tricia, Jennifer and Marissa will still have reviews going up.  Plus, I’m talking with a few authors who are planning to stop by LE while I’m out – so it shouldn’t be too quiet here. Authors: anyone who would like to stop by at a random time in August, please contact me at jackie AT literaryescapism DOT com.

Anyway, what this all means is the baby pool is still open and has only 6-8 weeks left.  You can enter into the pool as many times as you want as I’ll be drawing a winner from whoever is closest to Simon’s details. If there is more than one person, then the Research Randomizer and the List Randomizer will be getting a workout.  I’m even including an updated picture if anyone would like to reassess their entry.

Here are the details again:

Its the classic baby pool – guess the weight and date of birth.  That’s it.  Initially, this wasn’t in my plans, but the comment was left that if I’m going to do a name the baby contest, I might as well do a pool as well.  Hence the reason there is two gift certificates instead of one.  That’s right, the second gift card of $15 will go to the winner of the pool.  This side of the contest will stay open until the monkey pops out, obviously since we won’t know the stats until then.  Here are some stats we do know.

  • That’s obviously me with the bump.  The picture was taken on June 29th.
  • My due date is August 26th, but Ian showed up 2 weeks early (I’ve also been told that since Ian was early – unassisted – than Simon has a good chance of being the same way).
  • Ian’s weight at birth – 7lbs and 15oz

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Simon….Beckett, Arthur, Emerson, Fitzgerald, Flemming, Keats, Marlowe. I went to the famous authors list .

    • We’re actually thinking of going with either an author or tree name since we kind of did that with Ian. It wasn’t intentional, but Hawthorn is both.

    • I keep thinking it’s a geeky nerdy name, but I do love it too. I just wish we could come up with a middle name that we love just as much!

  2. Congrats on your soon-to-be baby! Oh, names. How about Christopher, for a middle name. Or Richard, after the author Simon Richard Green? :) Just a suggestion.
