Interview: Chloe Neill & Live Chat Tonight!

Chloe NeillI have the amazing Chloe Neill at Literary Escapism today and she has agreed to be the first to try out the new Literary Escapism Chat Room with a Live Author Chat tonight at 9pm EST.  The latest Chicagoland Vampires novel, Twice Bitten, just came out on Tuesday and I’m sure you’re just dying to ask her a couple of questions.  Plus, we can’t forget about the rest of the Chicagoland Vampires series – Some Girls Bite, Friday Night Bites or the Dark Elite novel, Firespell.

Shapeshifters from across the country are convening in the Windy City, and as a gesture of peace, Master Vampire Ethan Sullivan has offered their leader a very special bodyguard: Merit, Chicago’s newest vampire. Merit is supposed to protect the Alpha, Gabriel Keene-and to spy for the vamps while she’s at it. Oh, and luckily Ethan’s offering some steamy, one-on-one combat training sessions to help her prepare for the mission.

Unfortunately, someone is gunning for Gabriel, and Merit soon finds herself in the line of fire. She’ll need all the help she can get to track down the would-be assassin, but everywhere she turns, there are rising tensions between supernaturals-not least between her and a certain green-eyed, centuries-old master vampire.

To get everyone in the mood, I did ask Chloe a couple of questions.  Maybe they’ll spark a few in you as well, so think about Twice Bitten the rest of the day and then come back tonight to get the chance to ask Chloe yourself.  Chat details below.

LE: We definitely get to see more of the Shifters in Twice Bitten; will we also get to see more of the sorcerers’ union in later books?

CN: I certainly hope so. I don’t have any big U-ASS (Union of Amalgamated Sorcerers and Sorceresses) plans in CV4, but I think readers would like to get a more in-depth look at Catcher’s relationship with the Union and Mallory’s training!

LE: There seems to be a lot going on with Mallory and Catcher, yet we really don’t get to see much of them. Do you have any plans for a novella surrounding Mallory’s training or will we see more of them in a story arc later on?

CN: Speak of the devil(s). Yes–I would love to write a novella featuring Mallory. I think her training (mis)adventures would be great fun to write about as, of course, is the chemistry between her and “Catch”. At this point, it’s a matter of finding the time.

LE: Will Luc and Lindsey get a happy ending? Will we learn more about their past?

CN: I’m definitely rooting for Luc and Lindsey. Lindsey, of course, is incredibly stubborn, so she’s my biggest obstacle at this point to getting them together. (And having her suddenly go gushy for Luc in a future book would be pretty out of character for her). But my fingers are crossed.

LE: Is Lacey sticking around or have we seen the last of her for awhile? Are there any other vampires, either in Cadogen House or outside, that are going to make Merit’s personal life interesting?

CN: I’m not really sure how much we’ll see of Lacey in the future; suffice it to say she’s disappointed that by being Master of her own House (in California), she gets to see less of her past Housemates. Well, the one in particular… :) There will always be vampires, in and outside Cadogan, who will make Merit’s life interesting. (See below).

LE: In Twice Bitten, you introduced a new group of vampires that could have a potentially huge impact on Merit. They definitely underestimated Merit, but it has me wondering if we’ve really seen the last of them or if they will try a little harder next time. Is there anything you can tell us about them without giving anything away?

CN: We have definitely not seen the end of that “new group,” and I think Merit will continue to feel the tug of that particular organization, and her would-be “partner.”

Chat Details!

  1. The chat will begin at 9pm EST (8pm CST) tonight.  If you’ve already had a chance to read TWICE BITTEN, please do NOT identify TWICE BITTEN spoilers.
  2. To access the chat: go to http://chat.literaryescapism.com/, where you will be asked to log in.  When you join, make sure you say “Hi!” so we know you’re here.
  3. To ask Chloe a question, send a private message (PM) to the moderator, Jackie, by clicking on my name in the participant list (it should be the top one), indicating that you have a question – you will then be added to the queue.  I will then let you know when it’s your turn to ask a question.

That’s pretty much it.  Hopefully this won’t become too complicated.  When we were first testing the room out, it seemed to work alright, but there were a couple of instances where people had trouble getting the page to come up after logging in.  If you end up with a blank gray screen after login, try restarting your browser and clearing out your cache or any cookies.  If you’re unsure how to do that, restart your computer.  That will definitely do it.  For anything else, send me an email at jackie AT literaryescapism DOT com and I’ll try to help figure out what is wrong.  One caveat though, it is very hard to troubleshoot an issue without actually seeing it, so I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to help fix the problem.  I do suggest that everyone tries to get into the chat room at least once before Thursday night if you don’t want to miss out on anything.  I’ll be lurking in the room today and tomorrow if anyone does want to test the waters.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I visited her website and now I must add her to my TBR list. I don’t know if I can be on the computer at 9pm :( my husband frowns upon me being on the computer when he is here. I will try!
