Sins of the Heart by E. Silver

Sins of the HeartI am so very happy that I made the last minute decision to pick up Sins of the Heart by Eve Silver. I now have another favorite author to add to my A-List!  I really didn’t know what I was going to think of Sins of the Heart since I tend to like UF more than I like PNR, but Eve Silver completely blew me away and sold me on any future books she may write.

Half human, half god, Dagan Krayl is the Underworld’s most powerful soul reaper. When one of his brothers is murdered, Dagan must use every ounce of his power to hunt down those responsible for his brutal death. But he must move swiftly—and carefully—if he’s to have any chance of resurrecting his brother.

Yet that resurrection could wreak havoc on the mortal world. As an Otherkin, Roxy Tam has sworn to protect the human race, and it’s her mission to stop Dagan. But when she sees him face-to-face, she realizes that she has seen him once before—a meeting that changed her life forever.

Neither Dagan nor Roxy expect to join forces for the sake of mankind. Or to have their loyalties tested as they struggle against the potent desire that threatens to consume them both….

I do not know exactly how to explain the writing technique of Eve Silver, other then to compare her to J.R. Ward (of whom most of us know and love). There are several stories within the plot and we get to read about each one a little at a time, and while some authors don’t pull this off that well and leaves the reader confused, Silver does a wonderful job at juggling them all.

In Silver’s world there are several Gods of which cannot leave their realms and of course who do not get along with the other Gods. As such they each have their servants/wingmen who can leave the realms to do their dirty work for them.

Sins of the Heart starts off with Roxy Tam imprisoned and Dagan looking to harvest a dark soul and finds Roxy. Of course as romances go there was an instant spark for Dagan upon seeing Roxy. Now I must note that instead of some other romances where the heroine and hero instantly jump in bed together, this wasn’t the case for Roxy and Dagan. I must express my appreciation for Silver in her decision to avoid that type of romance story, and in doing so I feel the romance was so much better – that and I like to get to know the characters some before they hop into bed.

Speaking of the hot stuff, I have to say that I was very impressed with how the intimate scenes were written. There was a lot of build up for the two main characters in Sins of the Heart that when it did happen it was smoking hot. Silver has a way with words, because even the whispers and talk before the sex gave me shivers. It has been a VERY long time since a sex scene gave me the shivers!

Overall Sins of the Heart was outstanding, the plot flowed extremely well and the characters were very lovable. The world was unique and fresh and extremely interesting. From the very first page I was hooked!  If you are a fan of Paranormal Romance, and even Urban Fantasy, you must give Sins of the Heart a chance.
