Rapture Untamed by P. Palmer

Can some one please hand me a glass of ice water? I need to cool down after reading Raptured Untamed by Pamela Palmer.

They are called Feral Warriors—an elite band of immortals who can change shape at will. Sworn to rid the world of evil, consumed by sorcery and seduction, their wild natures are primed for release . . .

The most combative—and tormented—of all the Ferals, Jag is a predator who hunts alone—until daemons terrorize the human population. To stop them, he partners with Olivia, a flame-haired Therian temptress as strong as she is beautiful. But Olivia is no ordinary immortal. The survivor of a vicious supernatural attack, she possesses a deadly and forbidden skill—one that must remain hidden, especially from the powerful Feral Warriors.

As Jag and Olivia’s sensual dance of dominance and seduction gets wilder and hotter, a dark force sets its sights on Olivia, threatening to destroy everything she has vowed to protect. And the only one who can save her soul is the arrogant jaguar shifter she lusts for but dares not love.

Seriously, the chemistry between Jag and Olivia in Raptured Untamed is electric. The fact that they are both pretty antagonistic towards each other in the beginning only adds to it.  Jag is cocky, aloof, and likes to shock others with his rude sexual comments. Olivia has spent her entire life keeping people at arms length in order to keep a secret that could potentially kill her.  When the two initially meet, Jag doesn’t hide his interest. However Olivia is resistant, and lets him know in no uncertain terms that she isn’t interested, no matter how much of a lie that might be.  Jag seems to take this as a personal challenge and he makes it his mission to seduce Olivia.

Jag had the whole tortured bad boy thing going on, and what girl doesn’t want themselves one of those? I know that that’s something that I find hard to resist. His past unconsciously has him pushing away any chances for happiness that come his way, and once Olivia finally gives in she turns out to be exactly the right person to help Jag find peace with his past mistakes. I loved Olivia. She’s a warrior herself, and as such she can kick ass pretty well. Her strength was definitely a plus in my eyes, and it made her vulnerability with Jag seem all the more important.

The romance in the book is definitely the focus, but it isn’t all that Raptured Untamed has to offer. It also has a ton of heart stopping action. With both of the main characters being warriors, there are a lot of fight sequences, especially considering hey are fighting evil mages that will do anything to free demons onto the world.  This creates a plethora of dangerous situations that have both Jag and Olivia realizing what they would do in order to protect each other.

Now I must confess, I’ve never read any of the feral warrior novels before I came across Raptured Untamed.  So, I had assumed with this being the fourth book in the series, the story has already been developed. That the characters background had already been explained, and therefore it would be harder for me to follow.  However, those worries turned out to be completely unfounded.  The book was so smoothly written, and even though there were words and names for things that I didn’t initially understand, their meaning quickly became apparent.

Overall, Raptured Untamed is definitely worth the read. By the end, its two main characters both had me emotionally involved in their outcome.  I loved watching them try and fail to  deny the way the felt about each other. After reading this I think I am definitely adding the first three books to my TBR list because Raptured Untamed by Pamela Palmer has most certainly turned me into a Feral Warriors fan.
