Marjorie Liu has just released her latest Hunter’s Kiss novel, A Wild Light, and guess what I have to give away today.
For too long Maxine Kiss has felt an inexplicable darkness inside her-a force she channels into hunting the demons bent on destroying the human race. But when she finds herself covered in blood and crouched beside her grandfather’s dead body with no memory of what happened, Maxine begins to fear that the darkness has finally consumed her.
So…do you want a copy? All you have to do to enter is answer this one question: Who is your favorite literary monster and why?
As always, there’s more ways of getting your name in the hat (remember, these aren’t mandatory to enter, just extra entries):
- +1 for each place you post about today’s contest on your blog, social network, or anywhere you can. Digg it, stumble it, twit it, share it with the world. Wherever you share it, make sure you add a link to it along with your answer.
- +1 to any review you comment on, however, comments must be meaningful. Just give me the title of the review and I’ll be able to figure it out from there.
- +1 If you are a follower of Literary Escapism on Facebook and/or Twitter
- +10 Purchase any of Marjorie’s novels (listed below) or any novel through LE’s Amazon store or the Book Depository sometime during this contest and send a copy of the receipt VIA email for your purchase to: jackie AT literaryescapism DOT com. Each purchase is worth ten entries.
There is one thing I am adding to my contests now…the winner must post a review of the novel someplace. Whether it is on their own blog, Amazon, GoodReads, LibraryThing or wherever, it doesn’t matter. Just help get the word out.
The contest will stay open until September 3rd, at which time I’ll determine the winner with help from the Research Randomizer and the List Randomizer.
I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

I don’t have a favorite specific monster, but I love the vampire in general. There is so much that can be done with them.

my favorite literary monsters are the one that could be real like hannibal in silence of the lambs, or serial killers that make you check over your shoulder lol

I would have to go with Dracula, since vampires are my favorite reads!
My favourite literary types of monsters have always been ghosts. I don’t really have a favourite one in particular, I just like to read about them, and the scarier, the better.
My favorite literary monster is Medusa.
My favorite literary monster is Dracula because I love vampires and their mystique draws me in.

Who is your favorite literary monster and why?
Most flesh and blood monsters fall a bit flat because my imgagination can always scare me more.
The one monster that did get to me were the Dementors from Harry Potter – they chilled my soul.

I’ve always been partial to Edgar Allen Poe so I really loved the Telltale Heart. Not really a monster, but so freaking creepy it should be! :)

I’d have to say Jean Claude from the Anita Blake books because he’s smoking hot and bad to the bone.
Hm.. I think my favorite monster on the pages is Dracula. Somehow, he represents all the evil (as well as mystery) and yet, I think he’s kind of lonely, considering his long long life. :)

i love dracula, he is my favorite literary monster
+1 comment: my favourite literary monsters are the one that can be found in Greek mythology: love that some of them look nmormal even beautiful but can cause the doom of others (Medusa, Sirens, etc.)

I’d have to agree with what Stella said about the monsters of Greek mythology they are usually pretty darn scary. My favorite from that mythology is the cyclops.

As I answered on one of the other posts, Dracula is my favorite classic monster, I love the mystery that surrounds him.
