the Killing Dance by LK Hamilton

The Killing Dance gives us the climax of the relationship between Anita, Richard, and Jean-Claude and it ends pretty much like we’ve been lead to believe. But of course, you’ve already figured that out if you’ve been reading the books. The struggle between Richard and his rival, Marcus, for the leadership of the wolf pack is also determined and more conclusions are brought to life. In the previous books, Anita has known what she is up against, or I should say, she knows what her beliefs are. Now she is not only beginning to doubt herself, but she is also starts to see that she doesn’t know Jean-Claude and Richard as well as she thought she did or at least she didn’t realize how deep their personal conflicts/beliefs were.

Now Hamilton begins a plot device that is carried through many of the books to come. A person could read all of them individually and without the others, but you would miss the little things that are thrown in. There are certain characters besides Anita, Jean-Claude, and Richard that show up every time and we’re learning more and more about them as the series go, but again, if you don’t need to know everything to read a book. However, these little tid-bits help with the rush that these books give off. It’s hard to put down a book when there is that rush of excitement that you know something is going to happen and something does, but it isn’t what you expected and you know that they are not done dealing with it.

On a personal note, there are very few books that I have gone out and bought the entire series within two weeks, but this was one of them. If you’re looking for a vacation from the normal or miss watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel, than you need to get these books.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
