A Wild Light by Marjorie Liu

I managed to get my hands on a copy of Marjorie Liu’s newest release, A Wild Light, the third novel in her Hunters Kiss series. I have to have great characters to draw me in and help articulate the world they are in. And a newly created world that is easily visualized is a great addition too. I enjoy exploring new worlds and everything that goes with it. I have to agree with Rowena, characters are top and the world along with the plot are next. Thank you!

Congratulations Melissa!

Pamela Palmer

I had the talented Pamela Palmer on Literary Escapism during August talking about Mixing It Up in the Genre Scape. While she was here, we gave away three copies of the first Feral Warriors novel, Desire Untamed. In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: What book have you read and enjoyed recently that‘s outside your usual genre preference? Or simply ask Pamela a question. Now, without further ado, the winners are:

SCORPIO M who said: I read 2 books recently that expanded my reading boundary. First, was Lorelie James’s, “Shoulda Been A Cowboy,” which included a m/m/f scene. First one I’d ever read. I have been a mainstream romance reader for years so it was a bit unusual to read about a third party. Same thing with Megan Hart’s, “Pleasure and Purpose” – it too had atypical lovescenes. I love both these authors writing though, so something different won’t stop me from reading more.

THROUTHEHAZE who said: I just read Pamela’s story in Bitten by Cupid and now I am really interested in starting this series so I would LOVE to win the first book!
I think it has been awhile since I have read outside my comfort zone…one of the last ones I remember was See Jane Score by Rachel Gibson, which is a contemporary romance. Normally I don’t like contemporary romance but this book was great.

MARIA who said: I was given one of Pamela’s book as a gift and the funny thing was i din’t think I was going to like it so I kept putting off reading it than once i picked it up i enjoyed it so much I went and got some of the other books. I am so looking forward to this new one which i tend to pick up this week end when i get paid. I so loved bitten by cupid. Will you be writing more books like this?

Congratulations Scorpio, Throuthehaze and Maria!

Kelly Gay

I had the wonderful Kelly Gay on Literary Escapism during August talking about the journey. While she was here, we gave away a signed copy of either The Better Part of Darkness or The Darkest Edge of Dawn – winner’s choice. In order to enter, all anyone had to do was simply ask Kelly a question Now, without further ado, the winner is:

VAN P who said: I loved BPOD, and i can’t wait till DEOD :)

The entire group of characters are awesome, but I’d like to know will we be seeing more of Hank and Rex?

Would love to enter for DEOD.

As for your questions: I definitely read for the journey and for the characters. What you wrote before, that you feel like you’re on the journey with your characters. That’s what i love about books, it let’s you submerse yourself into the story, where you feel like you really know the characters that you read about and the world. You have one of the best world-building and characters, that I have read in a long time. And I’m so glad that I’ll be able to step back into the world again when DEOD comes out.

Congratulations Van P!

Kat Richardson

I had the talented Kat Richardson on Literary Escapism during August talking about things in the dark. While she was here, we gave away a set of signed copies of Vanished and Labyrinth with a limited edition puzzle, to one lucky reader. In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: What are some of your favorite Dark Fantasy stories? Or simply ask Kat a question. Now, without further ado, the winner is:

JEN M who said: I don’t like “high” fantasy at all, but I love dark fantasy. The Kate Daniels series is currently my favorite, but I also love all Lilith Saint Crow’s Jill Kismet series and I’m in the middle of her Dante Valentine series. I’ve also been reading Caitlin Kittredge’s Black London series, which is pretty dark, and the Fever series by Karen Moning. I read Greywalker, but haven’t gone any farther, so I’d love to win Vanished – that would encourage me to pick up books 2 and 3.

Congratulations Jen!

MICHELLE M (from See Michelle Read)) who said: Carolyn always comes up with the most hilarious guest posts! Love this. And yes – I don’t know how to admit it, but my little boy is… a… demon! Whew, I guess that explains some things.

Not really, he’s my angel ;)

Congratulations Michelle!

Vicki Pettersson

I had the talented Vicki Pettersson back on Literary Escapism during August to finish our chat from RT. While she was here, we gave away a copy of Cheat the Grave and City of Souls – to two lucky winners. In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: Now, without further ado, the winners are:

City of Souls: DAWN who said: As I was reading the interview, I found myself nodding my head to Vicki’s response of thinking of Las Vegas as a character. I like that the city is malleable and can adapt with the characters but still has its strong singular identity. Other cities that jumped into my head are New Orleans for its unique identity, Boston for its history and San Francisco for its duality. Internationally, London just for the hanuted history aspects alone, Paris, need I explain and Berlin for its modern city juxtaposed with its ghosts.

Cheat the Grave: NAT (from Wicked Little Pixie) who said: For sure NOLA, but it’s been done so much. I’d love to see more of my city, Toronto or even Detroit cause it’s so rich in history and there’s so many dark areas over there it’d be a UF wonderland!

And could Vicki be any more beautiful?!

Congratulations Dawn and Nat!

Anya Bast

I had the talented Cheryl Brooks on Literary Escapism during August talking about vampires as literary heroes. While she was here, we gave away a copy of either Wicked Enchantment or Cruel Enchantment – winner’s choice. In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: What is your take on book trailers? Or simply ask Anya a question. Now, without further ado, the winner is:

JUDI (from Sidhe Vicious) who said: I enjoy trailers when I do watch them once in awhile, but it doesn’t affect whether I buy a book or not. For me, covers are a great attention grabber and if the blurb sounds good, I’m interested. Then when I’m in the store I’ll usually read the first paragraph or two and if I like the authors “voice”, I’m hooked. Of course, once I find an author I like, then I have to get all their books! (Hence the near toppling TBR stacks I have, lol).

Your trailers were awesome Anya! I just usually don’t have the time to hunt down or watch book trailers. I can appreciate the hard work behind putting one together though. The majority of my time is spent reading, reviewing, studying, blog hopping, watching tv, spoiling my pets and wrapping my head in cold packs and black towels on my migraine days, lol.

Congratulations Judi!

Winners!

You have one week to send me an email at jackie AT literaryescapism DOT com, with the contest you won in the subject line, otherwise I’ll draw a new name when I post the current contest winners next weekend.

As always, I determined the winners by inputting all the entries into the List Randomizer, scrambling it up a couple of times, and then had the Research Randomizer pick a number.

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
