It’s Release Day!

Today two books I’ve been waiting for are out. Keri Arthur’s The Darkest Kiss and Jeaniene Frost’s One Foot in the Grave. I’ve already pre-ordered them through Barnes & Noble, so they should be here soon, but I can’t wait to get my hands on them. These are two authors that I’ve been hooked on since I first read them last fall.

I can’t remember how I got hooked on Keri Arthur, but after reading her first novel, I quickly got my hands on the next four. I haven’t done that with an author since I found the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton nearly 3 years ago. I love Arthur’s take on werewolf culture and how all the supernaturals play a part in her society. Here’s a synopsis from the new novel:

Danger turns her on.
Desire turns her dangerous…

Riley Jenson hunts evildoers—and does it with a style all her own. With vamp blood coursing her through her veins, and a werewolf’s uncanny instinct for danger, Riley wears snakeskin stilettos and pure, in-your-face attitude when she plunges into her latest case: hunting down a killer whose victims are high-society strumpets—and the rich and powerful men they’ve dated.

But for Riley, the case takes a chilling turn when a second killer starts trailing mutilated bodies of his own: a crazed young vamp choosing victims from a past marked by tragedy. Riley knows she’s got the skill and cunning to catch two serial killers at once…until one of them strikes inside her own tight-knit clan—and a sexy beast of a vampire reenters her life to aid in the hunt. His name is Quinn. He’s lived forever, shed blood, and shared pleasure…and he’s the only man over whom Riley has absolutely no control….

As for Jeaniene Frost, she was the greatest impulse buy I’ve come across. I was wandering through Meijers and her cover threw me in. I was looking for something new to read, so I gave it a try. I’ve been anxiously waiting for her second novel for four months now and it’s out today. Frost’s heroine, Cat, is kind of new. She’s a vampire hunter, but she’s done it all through luck and she met her match in Bones. Watching the two interact was interesting and I can’t wait to see the two together again. Here’s a synopsis of One Foot in the Grave and you can read the first chapter here.

You can run from the grave, but you can’t hide . . .

Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.

Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she’ll find that desire lasts forever . . . and that Bones won’t let her get away again.

These aren’t the only two novels out today. There is actually a bunch of them out. Here’s what I have coming out today:

About Jackie 3282 Articles
I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Hi Jackie,

First, I’m hugely flattered to see my book is on your list.

And second, every other book you’ve listed is on my TBR pile. I can’t wait for my Amazon shipment to arrive. It’s going to be like Christmas.

  2. I am getting more and more annoyed at these release dates. Us poor people who aren’t in the States are really suffering this month.

Hungers of the Heart is still showing up on my pre-order as not being sent till July.

One Foot in the Grave is also still showing as July!

    I am see a rant coming…
