Sins of the Flesh by E. Silver

Once again Eve Silver has blown me away with a perfect mix of romance and action with Sins of the Flesh, her third installment of the Otherkin Trilogy.

The blood of the Underworld lord of evil runs through soul reaper Malthus Krayl’s veins. Raised to fight for survival and to kill for victory, he can destroy anyone who poses a threat. As he searches for the one responsible for his brother’s murder, he refuses to succumb to any distraction…until his sworn enemy crosses his path and tempts him beyond all reason.

Calliope Kane, a Daughter of Aset, has a personal hatred for soul reapers. Their savage attack against her family still haunts her. But only Malthus can help her find the traitors of her kind, and only she can help him hunt the source of betrayal amongst the reapers. As they unite, the danger grows closer…and the passion between them ignites.

Sins of the Soul briefly introduced us to Calliope Kane, mentor to Naphré. In Sins of the Flesh, we get to read Calliope & Malthius’s story, which I have to admit I was actually worried about considering the lack of plot advancement in Sins of the Soul. I am more than happy to say that Eve Silver has once again thrilled me with Sins of the Flesh.  I really adored Calliope when I first read about her so I was very happy to see that she was featured in Sins of the Flesh. I think she makes a really good fit for Malthius, especially considering his bad boy image.

Much like the first two, the plot in Sins of the Flesh is mainly based on trying to find out who killed their brother and this time Mal is in the lead looking for clues and continuing the search.  I was worried that there wouldn’t be much plot considering how long it has stretched, but Silver has once again kept me turning the pages right to the very end.

Sins of the Flesh starts out with Malthus and Calliope heading to the same person to *question*, and as it turns out they aren’t the only ones interested in him either. Calliope gets the upper hand and snatches Mal’s target, leaving him perplexed and amused as to how she bested him. So the story continues with both trying to find out why this individual is so important to so many people, as well as solving the ongoing “whodunit” mystery.

I literally had to force myself to put this book down so I could go to bed every night because I so wanted to finally find out whodunit! Don’t worry folks we get loads of information and also the why’s… BUT, Sins of the Flesh ends with a hell of a cliff hanger! I was so disappointed when I got to the end. Though it really was brilliant of Silver to write it like that.

While I was not a fan of the Sins of the Soul, Sins of the Flesh really got me hooked again and now I wait impatiently for the next book so I can see what happens!

  4. I have Sins of the Heart on my shelf, need to pick it up asap! Great review, will be looking forward to reading this series. Does the books need to be read it order, or can it be read as a stand-alone? because n your review you said we meet the main character in the previous book.

  5. Yes you really need to read them in order, the plot spans the 3 books. I think you would be a tad bit confused if you didn’t.. though I am sure its possible to read them out of order. But I wouldn’t.
