Bayou Moon Contest

Thanks to the generous people at ACE, I had an extra copy of Bayou Moon looking for a new home. In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: What September release are you waiting for? Now, without further ado, the winner is:

ANA R. who said: Thank you so much for this contest! I am really looking forward to Bayou Moon. I read the Edge a few months ago and then go ALL of her other books. I literally didn’t stop reading for 4-5 days; thank god I was on a break for school!

Congratulations Ana!

BBAW Contests

As I’ve done for the past two years, for The Book Bloggers Appreciation Week 2010 (BBAW) there were daily contests here at LE. The week started out with 13 books being given away, but we ended the week with 15 for a total of 9 winners.

Up for grabs during the BBAW Forgotten Treasures day was: 3 copies of Serpent Moon by CT Adams & Cathy Clamp. In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: What novel was completely unexpected and blew your mind? Was there one that you didn’t think you would like and ended up loving? Now, without further ado, the winners are:

MEL S who said: I spent 6 months traveling around Australia and New Zealand a couple of years ago on a career break. I didn’t have access to all my usual books and authors so I started trying some different books which wouldn’t have tried otherwise and was blown away by the talented Aussie writers that had never made over to London! My favorite though was Traci Harding who wrote a fantastic trilogy which is a combination of Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance and Urban fantasy – The Ancient Future, An Echo in Time and Masters of Reality. I even paid extra to have these books shipped home so I could re-read later! Not enough know of them and are missing out!

PAM S who said: know very little on Freedom and while all the rave reviews on Hunger Games has peeked my interest a bit it isn’t enough that I’ve sought out the books. A series that I’ve totally Loved is Kate Perry’s Guardian’s of Destiny and book 3 is coming out this fall :)!

SANDY G who said: I looked at A Year on Ladybug Farm by Donna Ball several times in the library. It’s not the type of book I usually read but I’d read several of her mysteries and liked them. When I finally read A Year on Ladybug Farm I finished it in one sitting and took the sequel out of the library. I’ve since recommended it to several friends who’ve also enjoyed it.

Up for grabs during the BBAW: Unexpected Treasures day was: a copy of Afterlife by Merrie Destefano and Born to Bite by Lynsay Sands plus a shiny new copy of Haunted Honeymoon by Marta Acosta and Twelve by Jasper Kent. In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: Recommend a book in one of the genres mentioned above. Now, without further ado, the winners are:

The winner of Afterlife and Born to Bite is JEN M. who said: I think everyone’s got UF covered, and I don’t read SF these days, so I’m going to recommend historical romances. The first Regency I ever read was Georgette Heyer’s These Old Shades. I just reread it and fell in love with it again. The sequel to it, Devil’s Cub, is really good also. Heyer practically invented the modern Regency romance and her books stand the test of time.

My second recommendation is anything by Laura Kinsale. My favorite is The Prince of Midnight, but all of hers are great. I’d also recommend anything by Loretta Chase, but specifically Lord of Scoundrels – this one is a classic and is usually on everyone’s top ten lists. The book strikes the perfect balance between laugh out loud funny, yet serious.

The winner of Haunted Honeymoon and Twelve is SARA M who said: I have a bunch of UF authors to recommend: Kelly Gay, Kelly Meding, Trent Jamieson, Chloe Neill, Rachel Vincent, Laura Bickle/Alayna Williams, Nancy Holzner, Jennifer Estep, Patricia Briggs, and Diana Rowland.

And this one may be a bit more PNR than UF (it is often shelved there) but it’s still amazing: Richelle Mead’s Georgia Kincaid series. Also, Gail Carriger’s Soulless / Changeless / Blameless are historical and steampunk, but they definite resonate with UF too.

Up for grabs during the BBAW Future Treasures day was: 2 copies of Heart of the Wolf by Terry Spear, 2 copies of Dark Legacy by Anna Destefano, and the anthologies – Swords and Dark Magic and Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance, meaning there will be three winners. In order to enter, everyone had to answer the question: What new blogs have you discovered during this years BBAW? Now, without further ado, the winners are:

The winner of the anthologies – Swords and Dark Magic and Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance is ILONA who said: I discovered That’s What She Read, One Book At a Time, Fiction Vixen, The Librarian Next Door and Literary Escapism.

The two winners of Heart of the Wolf and  Dark Legacy are

Congratulations Everyone!

Winners!

You have one week to send me an email at jackie AT literaryescapism DOT com, with the contest you won in the subject line, otherwise I’ll draw a new name when I post the current contest winners next weekend.

As always, I determined the winners by inputting all the entries into the List Randomizer, scrambling it up a couple of times, and then had the Research Randomizer pick a number.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
