I love finding new mysteries that are more fun than thought provoking. You know the type of mysteries where you’re constantly on edge about what’s going to happen or where the newest clue will be found? Yeah, Enchanted, Inc. by Shanna Swendson is nothing like that and it’s great.
Magic is real. Those people you see that have wings, yeah, they really are fairies. That is what Katie Chandler learns. She also finds out that she has absolutely no magic talent whatsoever. She’s called an immune and in the magic community, that makes her special. Magic, Spells, and Illusions don’t work on her, which makes her valuable to MSI, Inc. They want to recruit her for her inability and they are willing to pay for it.
The whole feeling of the novel is an easy and relaxing read. Swendson doesn’t start off with a dark problem, twisting in conspiracies, while still trying to give her heroine a normal life. Instead, we can relate to her heroine and the troubles she goes through. The novel was enthralling and while the plot line wasn’t action packed, we were drawn to Katie (and her friends) and we really wanted to know more about them. That’s probably the best part of this novel – the characters are likable and you cared about what they were going through. There are some romantic elements, but it’s more of a infatuation at this point. We’re going to be able to see how Katie’s crush evolves, while she lives her life. I know I’m curious to see what else happens and I already have plans to get the second novel, Once Upon Stilettos.

I liked this first book and I am patiently waiting for the next part. I am on a Bookring for it on bookcrossing.com. I need to check how far along it is…maybe I will just go ahead and order it.
