I’m always on the lookout for new authors, and after joining a 50 Books in 2008 challenge in January (which was easy for me, since I already broke it), I decided to make it a New Author Challenge.
I have currently read 22 new authors for this challenge, and for the last 28 authors that I still need, I thought I would challenge everyone else to join this challenge with me. Since it’s already May, I’m challenging everyone who joins to 25 new authors for the year 2008. They don’t have to be in the same genre that you currently read; however, to make things even more interesting, 5 of the 25 authors have to be a part of a genre that you don’t typically read.

When I first read this I thought that 50 new authors in a year is a lot, but then I looked up my stats for the year and so far I have read 37 so it’s doable. A lot of those are new authors that I have been exposed to in anthologies and the like, but they’re still new to me!
I calculated how many books I read last year and it came out to be around 100 books, so I figured I could easily do 50 new authors this year. I’ve already done 22 of those 50 and I have a list of authors I want to read, so it’s only a matter of getting those books.
