Ghost Town by R. Caine

Ghost TownThe latest installment of Rachel Caine’s Morganville Vampires series, Ghost Town, was by far the best novel since the first one, Glass House.

While developing a new system to maintain Morganville’s defenses, student Claire Danvers discovers a way to amplify vampire mental powers. Through this, she’s able to re-establish the field around this vampire-infested Texas college town that protects it from outsiders.

But the new upgrades have an unexpected consequence: people inside the town begin to slowly forget who they are-even the vampires. Soon, the town’s little memory problem has turned into a full-on epidemic. Now Claire needs to figure out a way to pull the plug on her experiment- before she forgets how to save Morganville…

Ghost Town opened up with life for Claire, Eve, Shane and Michael being atypical for them. Or in other words, life was normal, or as normal a life teenagers living in Morganville could have. But then in typical Morganville fashion, life went to hell in a hand basket faster than the ever frequent vampire attacks.

It was in fact a vampire attack where Claire staked and accidentally killed a vampire that was the catalyst which set into motion the pulse-pounding adventure. With everyone around her losing their memory of the past three years, and an indefinite clock counting down the minutes until Claire loses her own memories, she’s forced to ally herself with someone she once hated in order to save Morganville and all its inhabitants.

While all of that is going on, questions about Amelia and Oliver, the two founders of Morganville, were answered. Unfortunately, those answers opened a whole other can of worms about their relationship.

And of course, in typical Morganville fashion, Ghost Town ended with a cliffhanger that will leave readers desperate for Bite Club – the next installment of Morganville.
