Soul Screamers

My Soul to StealHas anyone else succumbed to “so many books, so little time” syndrome?  I don’t know what it is about this year, but I’ve only read a fraction of what I did last year and there have been so many series that have slipped through the cracks.  One such series is Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers.  I actually bought the first book, My Soul to Take, when it first came out, because duh, her Shifters are just that awesome. I had no doubt that I would enjoy this series.

Today, I realized that it’s been a while since My Soul to Take was released considering the fourth novel, My Soul to Steal just hit the shelves.  I loaned my copy My Soul to Take of to a friend and she loved it.  As soon as she finished it, she ran out to find the rest of the novels.  After reading the blurb for My Soul to Steal, I’m thinking I really need to catch up.  What do you guys think?

YOU WANT MY SOUL AND MY BOYFRIEND?

Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can’t just pretend nothing happened. But “complicated” doesn’t even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.

See, Sabine isn’t just an ordinary girl. She’s a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people’s fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.

And Sabine isn’t above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

I DON’T THINK SO.

If that doesn’t do it for you, check this out:

So yeah, I really need to get caught up and spend a week simply reading.  With an infant in the house, I highly doubt that’s going to happen, but that doesn’t mean I can’t reorganizing my TBR pile.  *grin*

If you’re like me and have completely slacked on reading this series, here’s the previous novels:

My Soul to LoseMy Soul to Lose: a prequel story, which is free download.

Kaylee Cavanaugh’s trip to the mall ends with a brutal panic attack and a brainscrambling shriek she can’t stop. Her secret fear is exposed. It’s the worst day of her life.

Until she wakes up in the psychiatric unit.

But the hospital isn’t a safe place for Kaylee, and getting out won’t be easy because everyone thinks she’s crazy. Everyone except Lydia, who has a secret of her own…

My Soul to TakeMy Soul to Take
SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH KAYLEE CAVANAUGH

She doesn’t see dead people, but…

She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about the need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who’ll be next…

My Soul to SaveMy Soult to Save
“If she were going to die, I’d already be screaming. I’m a banshee. That’s what we do.”

The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad’s ironclad curfew and putting her boyfriend’s loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls for a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can’t possibly understand. Kaylee can’t let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk…

My Soul to KeepMy Soul to Keep
WHEN KAYLEE CAVANAUGH SCREAMS, SOMEONE DIES
AND KAYLEE IS ABOUT TO SCREAM HER HEAD OFF…

Kaylee has one addiction: her very hot, very popular boyfriend, Nash. A banshee like Kaylee, Nash understands her like no one else. Nothing can come between them.

Until something does.

Demon’s breath. No, not the toothpaste-challenged kind. The Netherworld kind. The kind that really can kill you. Somehow, the super-addictive substance has made its way to the human world. But how? Kaylee and Nash have to cut off the source and protect their friends—one of whom is already hooked.

And when the epidemic hits too close to home, Kaylee will have to risk everything to save those she loves.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I’m in the exact same boat. I ran out and bought MSTT the moment it was out, and then read it immediately. Since then, I’ve bought every other book the moment they’ve released, but haven’t read any more of them. I tend to do this a lot, especially when books in a series are released in consecutive months…
