Sins of the Heart by E. Silver

Sins of the HeartThe first that I heard of Sins of the Heart by Eve Silver was Tricia’s glowing review back in July. Then review after review started popping up on various blogs about how awesome this book was and I was officially interested. I mean, with so many people loving the book there had to be something there. Right?

Half human, half god, Dagan Krayl is the Underworld’s most powerful soul reaper. When one of his brothers is murdered, Dagan must use every ounce of his power to hunt down those responsible for his brutal death. But he must move swiftly—and carefully—if he’s to have any chance of resurrecting his brother.

Yet that resurrection could wreak havoc on the mortal world. As an Otherkin, Roxy Tam has sworn to protect the human race, and it’s her mission to stop Dagan. But when she sees him face-to-face, she realizes that she has seen him once before—a meeting that changed her life forever.

Neither Dagan nor Roxy expect to join forces for the sake of mankind. Or to have their loyalties tested as they struggle against the potent desire that threatens to consume them both….

Most definitely turns out to be the answer. Sins of the Heart was a story filled with strong characters, sexy romance, and heart pounding action. The main protagonist, Roxy Tam, had a fiery backbone that I find that I enjoy in any main character. She took no one’s crap, and that includes soul reaper Dagan Krayl. He’s one of the big bads of the underworld, a son to Setekh (the god of chaos), and sexy to boot. The chemistry between Roxy and Dagan was palpable. Both of them had a strong personality that you wouldn’t have thought would mesh, but their stubborn ‘alpha’ sides really seemed to be what the other needed.

Other than Roxy and Dagan, I really was in love with Dagan’s younger brother Malthus Krayl. Apparently he’s great with the ladies, he loves shiny baubles, and is as strong and sexy as the rest of his brothers. The only thing that I can think of is ‘sign me up’ because Malthus definitely sounds like a great character that I wouldn’t mind getting to know.

The story in Sins of the Heart was definitely well developed. The book itself spans eleven years, but it does it so seamlessly that it wasn’t a chore at all to read. The story kept giving me enough information  to keep me interested, while not dumping it all on me at once. The ending of this book is definitely one that adds a cliff hanger. A cliff hanger that makes me need to get the second book in order to figure out what’s going on. Which means that there is no doubt that I’m going to be checking out the next in the series because I need to know who the heck is behind everything.

Overall, this is another glowing review in a long line of glowing reviews, but really, you won’t be able to blame us reviewers if you check out Sins of the Heart by Eve Silver. If you get the opportunity to read this book then I suggest that you take it because I have a feeling that Sins of the Heart is going to definitely be etching it’s own place in your heart.
