While watching the television tonight, I saw the movie trailer for I am Number Four and it kind of caught my attention. It very much gives the idea that it’s a fantasy/paranormal flick, but it really didn’t show anything paranormal. It wasn’t just me that thought that either. The hubby was sitting next to me when it came on and he asked me: what book is it based off? I hadn’t heard of it, so I went in search of I Am Number Four the book.
In the beginning they were a group of nine. Nine aliens who left their home planet of Lorien when it fell under attack by the evil Mogadorian. Nine aliens who scattered on Earth. Nine aliens who look like ordinary teenagers living ordinary lives, but who have extraordinary, paranormal skills. Nine aliens who might be sitting next to you now.
The Nine had to separate and go into hiding. The Mogadorian caught Number One in Malaysia, Number Two in England, and Number Three in Kenya. All of them were killed. John Smith, of Paradise, Ohio, is Number Four. He knows that he is next.
I AM NUMBER FOUR is the thrilling launch of a series about an exceptional group of teens as they struggle to outrun their past, discover their future—and live a normal life on Earth.
I AM NUMBER FOUR.
I AM NEXT
Sounds interesting. Aliens are not something that would generally catch my attention, but the movie trailer looks like it could be good and it does have me curious. So has anyone read I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore? Have you seen the trailer? What did you think?
I’m right dab in the middle of I Am Number Four right now. So far it’s good except I ran into one problem – I just found out that James Frey (the guy who fabricated his memoir A Million Little Pieces) was involved in this book, and in a very interesting way. Apparently, Frey has sought out some writers from top schools to “employ”. He gives them an outline and they write the book. He makes any changes he wants and slaps a pseudonym on the book. You can Google it and find out more details (like how he barely pays the people who do the actual writing). The co-author of this particular book has signed off from writing the sequel.
I forgot to mention, I’m not sure if I will be able to finish reading this book b/c I found out about Frey’s involvement. I despise him even more b/c of the stuff I recently found out. I tried picking the book back up but I couldn’t get into it. Not sure if I’ll finish or not.
