Envious and Peculiar Dream Lovers

Green Eyed EnvyMy apologies for taking so long with the latest news. Life seems to be speeding by this month. If anyone is going to be around on Friday, I hope you’ll try and join Larissa and I as we talk Cat/Bones on Friday, celebrating (yes I said celebrating) the release of the latest Night Huntress novel, This Side of the Grave.  We’ll be at Talk Shoe on February 25th at 9pm EST.  The Call-in Number is 724.444.7444, with the ID being 93065.  For more info, click here.

Kim Harrison will be at Borders on Lohr Rd in Ann Arbor, Mi tomorrow, signing her new release Pale Demon. I will be on the premise the majority of the day, so if you’re there as well, look me up.

Author Appearances:

Maria Snyder has also released the title and blurb to her ninth novel, which is the start of a new fantasy series.  If you’re a fan of her Study series (Poison Study), something tells me you’re going to enjoy Touch of Power when it comes out in January 2012.  What do you think?

Laying hands upon the injured and dying, Avry of Kazan assumes their wounds and diseases into herself. But rather than being honored for her skills, she is hunted. Healers like Avry are accused of spreading the plague that has decimated the Territories, leaving the survivors in a state of chaos.

Stressed and tired from hiding, Avry is abducted by a band of rogues who, shockingly, value her gift above the golden bounty offered for her capture. Their leader, an enigmatic captor-protector with powers of his own, is unequivocal in his demands: Avry must heal a plague-stricken prince—leader of a campaign against her people. As they traverse the daunting Nine Mountains, beset by mercenaries and magical dangers, Avry must decide who is worth healing and what is worth dying for. Because the price of peace may well be her life….

Sookie Stackhouse is coming to an end!  The LA Times is reporting that Charlaine Harris has announced the next two books after Dead Reckoning will be the last.  Granted, Harris did say “probably”, so there’s a chance she could write more, but I wouldn’t count on it.  Due to True Blood’s success, Harris’ creativity is being a bit stifled in the fact that she’s concentrating on Sookie and really nothing else.  She says she wants to other things as well and the shows prohibiting that.  I can understand that.  Dead Reckoning will be the eleventh book, so the series has gone on for awhile and it would be ending on a good note.  Hero Complex has the full story if you want to check it out.  There’s more at TrueBlood.net.

Yummy Men, Kick Ass Chicks has asked a bunch of authors why they chose Paranormal Romance.

Ilona Andrews has announced the title to the third Edge novel.  We’ll get to read Fate’s Edge in the near future.  I was thinking we knew the release date (or about when), but I can’t seem to remember or find it.

Deborahe Cooke has a new website for her YA dragon series.  For all the skinny on Flying Blind, which will be out June 2011, check out The Dragon Diaries.  The second novel, Winging It, is slated for a December 2011 release with the as yet unnamed third novel scheduled for June 2012.

Phoenix RisingCheck out this snazzy looking steampunk cover for Pip Ballantine & Tee Morris’ Phoenix Rising, a new Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences novel.  This is only one of many fabulous covers that have been popping up. For all the new covers, I’ve added them to the FB album.

Orbit announced that they just picked up a new series by Lilith Saintcrow.  The new series is being described as a combination of historical urban fantasy and steampunk and the first novel will be published Summer 2012.

Lauren Dane has a new series coming out later this year and we’re finally given a glimpse with the cover copy for the first novel, Heart of Darkness:

Meriel Owen, next in line to control the largest organization of witches in the country, is asked to investigate the owner of a notorious club reportedly siphoning magic from the font of the Clan. It’s a direct violation of the Clan Code of Conduct, but one look at Dominic Bright and Meriel’s willing to make a deal. One taste of the sexually feral outlaw witch, and she’s eager to go further: he’s her bond mate, a legal conduit into the world of Clan witches and their magic.

Playing by the rules isn’t Dominic’s style, but bonding with Meriel—night after explosive night—is. However, Meriel has unwittingly invited someone else into her world: Dominic’s mother, a dangerous and poisonously influential magic addict whose lust for death and power corrupts all she touches. Now her shadow is closing in on Meriel, her Clan, and the man Meriel loves, and it’s casting them all into the inescapable heart of darkness.

Amazon is currently offering Kerrelyn Spark’s How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire as a free read for a limited time.

Caitlin Kittredge has posted three teasers for her new release, The Iron Thorn.  You can read them here, here and here.

Jeri Smith-Ready has fabulous news – she’s sold the third novel in her Shifter series.  This isn’t a title as of yet, but it’s scheduled to be released next summer, which could mean May 2012.

RT Book Reviews has the buzz on a bunch of new projects that were announced.  There is one that has me questioning this whole “let’s cannibalize the classics” craze.  It seems My Favorite Fangs author is in the works on a new horror story.  This one featuring the von Trapp family…as in The Sound of Music.  Seriously?  Singing vampires?

Jackie U has another fabulous edition of Off the Fang over at Bitten by Books.  This week she’s celebrating Valentines Day with her favorite couple.

It was announced on the RT Booklovers FB page that 2012 will be held in Chicago.  That excites me as it’s as close as Columbus was in 2010.  So, as of right now, you can expect to see me in Chicago in 2012.  There were rumors that RT was going to be in NOLA for 2012, but it didn’t pan out.  But fear not.  Just because RT won’t be there, Authors After Dark will be in New Orleans August.

Dream LoverKeri Arthur has posted a teaser excerpt from her upcoming novel, Mercy Burns.

Tynga’s Reviews has uncovered a slew of great Kindle deals, including a few free reads.

Melissa Marr is talking about the fabulous anthology that she and Kelley Armstrong put together to help finance the Smart Chicks Kick It tour from last year.  Enthralled: Paranormal Diversions will be out September 20, 2011 and is already available for preorder.

Cynthia Eden has posted the prologue to her next Deadly novel, Deadly Lies.

Rachel Vincent has posted an excerpt from her new adult series, Blood Bound.

Lauren Dane has posted an excerpt from her novel, Taking Chase.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I love me some Mal Reynolds and so does Nathan Fillion.  He’s been dropping quite a few references to his cult hit in his current show, Castle, and SyFy Blastr has them all. And speaking of Fillion, Blastr has found out that Fillion would love to get his hands on the rights to Firefly, if only he had the $300 million.

If you haven’t heard already, Heroes and Heartbreakers has finally launched with a ton of cool things to start them off (hint, there’s a sweet contest going until tomorrow – I’m late with this, sorry!).  There are a ton of writers for the H&H site, with the intent to bring romance content from a variety of publishers, imprints and authors.  I’m going to take this to mean that they are encompassing all romance, not just paranormal, so if that’s your thing, H&H would probably be a good stop for you.  Also, they’ll be having original stories, pre-release excerpts, blog posts, giveaways and more, so make sure you bookmark if you haven’t already.

Contest:
Heroes and Heartbreakers is giving away Volumes 1 – 4 of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter Manga.  Contest ends February 23rd.

Geeks of Doom is giving away a copy of Kim Harrison’s Pale Demon.  Ends tonight.

Dark Faerie Tales is giving away over 100 different novels.  Ends February 28th.

Suburban Vampire is giving away two copies of Jacqueline Lepore’s Immortal with a Kiss.  Ends February 24th.

Rachel Caine is giving away a complete Simon Canderous set by Anton Strout.  Ends March 1st.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
