Looks Who’s Going to RT: Laurie London

Laurie LondonCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I’m the author (debut author, actually) of the Sweetblood series, new vampire romance from HQN. Bonded by Blood came out February 2011 and Embraced by Blood comes out July 2011. I live in the Seattle area on a couple of acres with my family and a bunch of animals, including my show horse who hasn’t seen a lot of shows lately because of my writing schedule.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
Far beneath the streets of the city, in an unknown part of Underground Seattle, a team of vampire Guardians fights to protect humans from Darkbloods—vicious members of their race who kill like their ancestors and sell the blood on the black market. The rarest, called Sweetblood, commands the highest price.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This will be my first RT convention. I’ve heard so many fun stories and seen lots of pictures–I’m really excited. Plus, it’ll be my first book signing, which I understand is insanely huge.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
No, I’m not speaking on any panels. Because there are so many great workshops, I have no idea how I’m going to choose which ones to attend.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
First of all, I love meeting new people! I pretty much look like my picture unless I decide to use my straight iron that day or I don’t wear my contacts. And since all this author stuff is new to me, if a reader told me they liked my book, don’t be surprised to see a few tears.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Laurie I’m glad I won’t be the only newbie going to RT. I’m already overwhelmed with the number of things to do at the convention. As a reader I cannot wait to see who all is going to be there. I’m a little anxious and a lot excited. Hope to see you there!

  2. This will be my first year attending as well! I’m glad there are lots of newbs out there like me. Although I’m just a reader and fan. No privileged author status here :) I don’t know if I will be able to attend for all five days or just one. I may just end up coming for the Book Fair as cost and location might damper my plans, but we’ll see. I’ve heard that the Book Fair is the best part and not to miss. I will have to make a list of the authors (you included) who I would like to meet and get signatures from possibly. From what I’ve seen and heard it can be quite a monstrous crowd, so I’ll need to get my priorities straight. (I’ll probably end up printing pictures of each author’s face so I can check my cue cards secretly and pick and spot authors from the crowd. Haha)
