Looks Who’s Going to RT: Tamara Hogan

Tamara HoganCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I’m a lifelong Minnesotan whose debut urban fantasy romance, Taste Me, was just released on March 1. Taste Me was a 2009 Golden Heart paranormal finalist (under the title UNDERBELLY) and won a 2009 Daphne du Maurier Award for Mystery and Suspense. I’m a voracious reader, have an unapologetic television addiction, and am forever on the lookout for the perfect black boots.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
Taste Meis the kick-off book of the Underbelly Chronicles, set in a world where incubi, succubi, sirens, Valkyries, vampires, werewolves and faeries have lived, undetected, alongside humankind for nearly a millennia, since a spaceship carrying environmental refugees crashed on Earth rather than its intended destination. Hopelessly marooned, the survivors formed a hidden society with its own ruling council, influencing human history and myth to ensure their survival. But in these days of burgeoning technology and increased surveillance, keeping their true natures under humanity’s radar is more challenging than ever…

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This will be my first Romantic Times conference, and my very first book-signing! While I’m honored to attend my first conference as a published author, I’m very much looking forward to the workshops. The learning never stops.

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
Being this is my first RT conference, I’m dipping my toes in the water, getting the lay of the land, giving myself some time to wander around and simply…experience. You’ll be able to find me at CLUB RT on Thursday afternoon, wearing a dress and not a costume at Friday night’s Vampire Ball, and of course at the author book signing on Saturday.  In terms of workshops and panels, I’m looking forward to DP Lyle’s “Understanding the Science of Crime” presentation, and I’ll definitely attend any and all world-building sessions.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
I have a different hairstyle now than I did when my author photo was taken. Look for a light brown inverted bob, unless I change my mind by then! I’ll be wearing black clothing, black glasses and carrying a black leather tote bag, and I’ll have a cup of black coffee with cream hermetically attached to my hand. You might occasionally find me sitting by myself in a quiet corner, blocking out the world with my (yes, black) iPod.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Hello Tamara!

This will be my first RT too. I’m excited to attend the workshops, parties and the huge book signing. I’ve heard wonderful things about the conference. I can’t wait to finally meet my favorite authors and the lovely people I know only from Twitter. I hope to see you there!
