Looks Who’s Going to RT: Stephanie Draven

Stephanie DravenCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
After graduating from law school, I came to my senses and returned to my first love: storytelling. By re-imagining ancient myths for modern day audiences in my RT Award-nominated Mythica series for Harlequin, I try to bring real world issues into sharp focus. I also write historical fiction as Stephanie Dray. I remain fascinated by all things ancient and have–to the consternation of my devoted husband–collected a house full of cats and Egyptian artifacts.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
What if the monsters of ancient myth still walked the earth…and what if you found out that you’re one of them? That’s the premise behind my Greek-myth inspired paranormal romance series. I was highly influenced by Neil Gaiman’s American Gods, but in my world, the immortals get to find love. (Poisoned Kisses was just released in October)

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I’m an RT virgin and I hope someone will hold my hand every step of the way because I feel totally overwhelmed about what I should be doing to get ready!

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I’ll be speaking on a panel with the talented Jeannie Lin. We’re going to give a presentation called How to Promote Like a Big Name Author When You’re Not One…Yet.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Me! I love to meet new folks. I admit that I’m not much of a drinker–at least, I am wary of the embarrassing things that I tend to do when I drink too much–but I love to sit about chatting.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
