Bound by Thieving Lycans

The Republic of ThievesThe contest for a copy of Adrian Phoenix’s Etched in Bone ends tomorrow night.  Have you entered yet?

I can’t pinpoint it exactly, but I’m loving the cover for Scott Lynch’s The Republic of Thieves. I think it’s the costumes – they are fabulous!  This is only one of many fabulous covers that have been popping up. For all the new covers, I’ve added them to the FB album.

Author Appearances:

Must Love LycansYasmine Galenorn will be having a live chat on March 27th at 6pm PST (9pm EST) over at her Moon Stalker forums.  You will need to register in order to participate, but it’s quick, painless, and most importantly, free to register so you can’t use that as an excuse not to attend.

Are you a fan of JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series?  Are you anticipating the release of Lover Unleashed on March 29th?  If so, then you should check out the snazzy article over on Heroes and Heartbreakers that takes a look back through all the books.  In addition, Larissa and I will be chatting about the Brothers during our April 8th Bookish Escape chat.

People have been screaming for it and Tor.com has the knowledge.  A Dance with Dragons, the much awaited Song of Ice and Fire novel by George RR Martin, finally has a released date.  July 12th will be a great day for many Martin fans.

I love finding parodies on childrens novels and io9 is showing off a fabulous rendition. Awhile back, they posted a few what ifs science fiction children’s books and artist Julia Yu was so inspired that she illustrated an entire novel of Goodnight Dune.  This is a must for any fantasy fans and I really can’t wait to see it in print form.

Ilona Andrews has made available their story Of Swine and Roses at Amazon for $.99 and I’m also pretty sure you can get it at Barnes and Noble for the same price.  They’ve also posted a snippet if you want to be intrigued.

Melissa Marr announced a new short story collection.  While there won’t be any more Wicked Lovely stories, we will get one more novel in February 2012.  Marr is collecting all of her WL World short stories and publishing them in one book titled Faery Tales & Nightmares.  Stories included will be Stopping Time, Old Habits, Cotton Candy Skies, A Hoard as well as the story slated for the Enthralled anthology coming out this fall.  We’ll also get the selchie story, Love Struck, that first appeared in Love is Hell, which is not a WL story.

Oh to live in Portland, Oregon this month.  The 9th Annual Vampires Masquerade Ball is scheduled for March 26th and it sounds like it will be fabulous.  If you’re in the area, and over 21, you can find all the details here.

I’ve seen the cage fights before, but I never clicked. Until today.  I am now hooked.  Suvudu does this cage fights between  two characters, and while I thought it was just a poll, there’s actually a lot more to it.  Like an actual scenario.  The one that caught my attention was Eric Northman vs Jacoc Black.  Yeah, my vote is on Eric.  I do so love Eric’s last line.

KMMoning-ShadowfeverOh. My. God. Karen Marie Moning has posted the MMP cover for Shadowfever and it totally rocks. I love it more than the hardcover version. Shadowfever will be released in paperback on August 30, 2011.

Free Reads:

Are you a fan of HP Lovecraft?  Then I would definitely head over to Tor.com and grovel a little before Ruth X.  She underwent the amazing task of compiling the complete works of Lovecraft and formatted them for ebook.  And she’s offering it for free!  The ebook contains all original stories that were penned by Lovecraft between 1917 and 1935.  For a complete look at all the titles, check out the table of contents.

Harper Collins has posted the first four chapters to Kerrelyn Spark’s upcoming novel, Vampire Mine, which is due to release.

Beth Williamson’s first Devils on Horseback novel, Nate, is currently available as a free read for the Kindle and Nook.

Yasmine Galenorn has posted a snippet from her second Indigo Court novel, Night Veil, which will be released

Shiloh Walker has posted a snippet from the fifth Grimm’s Circle novel, Locked In Silence.  It is tentatively scheduled to be released in September.

Rachel Vincent has posted a snippet from her new adult novel, Blood Bound, which will be released August 23rd.

Ilona Andrews has posted a snippet from a work in progress that currently doesn’t have a title.  All we’re told is that it will eventually be released as an ebook and I’m thinking not a Kate Daniels story.

Lauren Dane has posted an excerpt from her novella, dirty/bad/wrong, which will be released on May 3rd in the anthology Three to Tango.  Here’s the blurb for the novella:

Though Ava left her hard-knock Georgia childhood behind, she never forgot Luca and Angelo. Together they were best friends with a bond that could never be broken. But when she returns, the three must decide whether to face the fires that burn between them, or forgo their desires forever in Lauren Dane’s dirty/bad/wrong.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I like the cover art for The Republic of Thieves too. Now, I just wish the book was out already. Every time I check Amazon, it seems like the release date has been pushed back …

  2. I agree with Jennifer! Love the cover but release the book already :)
It’s been ages since I’ve read the first novel, so guess I’ll have to do a re-read on that one first.

One a sidenote, it’s a bit funny that I come across a post of you right now, Jennifer, cause I came back with the mail and Venom was delivered. Talking about coincidence ;)
