Looks Who’s Going to RT: Chris Marie Green

Chris Marie GreenCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I stay busy by writing across the genres. Under “Chris Marie Green,” I do the Vampire Babylon urban fantasy series (Night Rising) for Ace Books. Under “Crystal Green,” I write romance for Harlequin Special Edition and Blaze. And I’ll have yet another name/genre later this year! “Christine Cody” will be my post-apocalyptic western urban fantasy name for my “paranormal SHANE meets MAD MAX” series called Bloodlands. :)

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
My Vampire Babylon world features a noir, crumbling-glamor Hollywood setting in its first trilogy. (It goes on to explore the creepy side of London in the second trilogy.) My main character is an ex stuntwoman who’s thrust into vampire hunting after her father goes missing and she finds out that he was involved with the paranormal. Both VB trilogies feature a vampire underground that the heroine, Dawn Madison, and her team need to wipe out, and the missions are filled with twists, turns, and mysteries.

In my new series, Bloodlands (which comes out August-October, 2011), the characters inhabit a world gone terrible. The US has become a place where normal people have been pretty much forced to stay in their homes because of terrorism and the state of the nation; there are even people who have migrated out into the boonies to hide under ground so they can survive. But there are also “monsters” running around, hiding just as much as the humans. One of those monsters, a vampire named Gabriel, wanders out to a bleak place called the New Badlands because he’s tracking the woman he loves–a woman who disappeared and left him in the dust. He falls in with a society that might or might not know what happened to his girlfriend. But, even worse, there’s a cruel neighbor who begins to suspect that Gabriel isn’t quite human, and a monster hunter is called out to take care of business with him.  The second and third book in the series really open up the world, and it was so exciting to flesh it out beyond the New Badlands.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This will be my second RT. All I have to say is enjoy the parties–and pace yourself. : )

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
Right now, I’m not scheduled to be on any panels. But I’ll be one of many hosts for the Harlequin party, where we’ll be giving out books and doing a lot of meeting and greeting. I hope I get to see a lot of readers there! Also, I’m scheduled to be at Club RT at 3:30 on Wednesday and 1:30 on Thursday.

I think I’ll be winging it with the panels. You just never know what you’ll get caught up in at RT, so I try to stay flexible!

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Chris Marie Green will be the primary name on my badge. : ) Don’t be shy–come up and say hi!

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
