Looks Who’s Going to RT: Jory Strong

Healers ChoiceCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I’m published by Ellora’s Cave and Berkley. Between the two I have 37 already released stories and 3 more contracted. I’m a fairly introverted person which is why I don’t often attend conventions. I love to read, and weather permitting, try to ride one of my horses every day. I’ve been a CPA and a farrier (horseshoer), owned a pet sitting business, and was involved in dog rescue and placement (all breeds, but Dobermans in particular) for years, but these days I’m a fulltime author with a husband and a menagerie of birds, horses, dogs and cats.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
That’s a tall order, I’ve got four on-going series at Ellora’s Cave:

  1. Crime Tells (my only non-paranormal series) which is centered around a private investigation firm – Lyric’s Cop.
  2. Supernatural Bonds, where human men and women end up finding love with a supernatural being in a contemporary world where the supernatural is hidden – Binding Krista.
  3. The Angelini, again set in a world where the existence of vampires and werewolves and others, including the Angelini (hunters charged with keeping supernatural law) are hidden – Skye’s Trail.

My Berkley series is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the supernatural no longer hides. It includes Ghostland, Spider-Touched, Healer’s Choice and Angel-Claimed (part of the Primal anthology with Lora Leigh, Ava Gray, and Michelle Rowen.) At the moment I’m finishing up a new book for Berkley. It’s part of a two book contract that I’m hopeful will go on to become a series. Inked Magic (working title) is set in the modern day world with the supernatural hidden. The heroine is an elf changeling. Her heroes (yes, there are two them!) are an elf Lord and the human son (not involved in the family business) of a very powerful mafia boss.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
This will be my second RT. My first was Daytona which was five or six years ago, so I feel very much like a newbie myself! I’d tell others what I’m telling myself, “Relax and enjoy!

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
No, I’m not speaking on any panels, just attending. There are so many great workshops being presented. Several in particular I’m really looking forward to are: Uniting Story Structure, Character Arc and Love Stories; Doing Time for the Crime; Fight Club- Live Demonstration; and the session with Dean Koontz.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
I have no idea who I’ll be hanging out with. I’m hoping to meet new people and spend time with authors I’ve met at previous events. There are three places where I’ll definitely be anchored to one spot. I’ll be participating in Club RT (Wednesday from 1:00 to 1:30), the eBook expo on Friday, and the Saturday book fair. I’ll also be at the EC party Wednesday night.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
