Look Who’s Going to RT: Sabrina Jeffries

Sabrina JeffriesCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I currently live in North Carolina with my husband and son, but I have also lived in New Orleans, and I grew up in Thailand – my parents were missionaries. I started making up stories at twelve, and I remember telling myself that one day I’d write them down and sell them. That proved to be prophetic–I wrote my first romance novel after grad school. At the time I was working as an English professor. I sat down to develop a publishable academic work based on my dissertation and found it so boring that I started writing a romance instead. When I realized that I really enjoyed it, I dumped the academic career, took a job as a technical writer, and wrote novels at night until I sold my first historical (my second romance). Since then I’ve written thirty-two novels, four novellas, and three short stories.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
My newest series, The Hellions of Halstead Hall (, The Truth About Lord Stoneville, A Hellion in Her Bed and How to Woo a Reluctant Lady), is about five siblings, Oliver, Jarret, Minerva, Gabriel and Celia, who lost their parents in a tragedy that happened nineteen years ago. It sent them into free fall, which is where they’ve been ever since. Their rich maternal grandmother has been supporting them, but now she has issued an ultimatum—marry or be cut off. And not just one of them, but all of them. Now they’re scrambling to decide what to do with their lives. Do they give in to Gran’s demands? Or do they fight to thwart her somehow?

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I’ve been to RT many times. I would advise first-timers to spend every free moment hanging out in the bar–that’s where all the action happens!

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I’m on the panel for “Finding the Right Historical Setting for Your Book” and the Readers’ Appreciation Workshop. And I’m really looking forward to the Saucy Sirens through History event I’m sponsoring with several other historical authors, which ought to be lots of fun! I have no idea what panels I’ll attend. I’ll have my sister with me this year, so it really depends on what she wants to do.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Look for the author wearing unusual or sparkly jewelry … who’s in the bar!

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
