Looks Who’s Going to RT: Cathy Maxwell

Cathy MaxwellCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
I’m Cathy Maxwell, I hail from Virginia by way of Kansas, and I write Regency-set historicals.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
I create worlds where people don’t moan about wanting life to be better–they go out and make it better! The Regency world (early 1800’s England) was the beginning of the modern age. Many of the ideas we accept as gospel now opened up during the Regency. I enjoy teasing these ideas in my novels.

Editors Note: Cathy’s latest novel is His Christmas Pleasure, was released in December.  Her next novel, The Seduction of Scandal, will be out August 30, 2011.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran?  Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I’ve been going to RT since the mid-90’s. I’ve been going to RT so long, I’ve forgotten the names of the male models . . . but I do remember the chicken, Fabio, and a host of other delicious memories. Any advice for those who are going for the first time? Have fun. (I always do.)

Are you speaking on any panels during RT?  Are there any you are looking forward to?
As of my writing this, I’m not scheduled for any, but I’ve been surprised before.  I go to see my friends, enjoy the good times, celebrate the genre, and try not to get into trouble.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
Who? Or where? Always try the Readers Room where there is shopping. As to who, I’m rooming with my friend Kim Adams who is involved with the SOS activities.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
