Looks Who’s Going to RT: C.H. Admirand

C.H. AdmirandCan you introduce yourself to my readers a little?
Hi, I’m C.H. Admirand. I write historical Irish Westerns, Medievals, Regencies and now contemporaries with the March 1, 2011 release of TYLER: The Secret Life of Cowboys—my debut in mass market paperback with Sourcebooks. I love including bits and pieces of my Irish heritage and family names in all of my books.

Can you introduce us to the world that you have created?
Tyler is the oldest of three tall, dark-haired, dark-eyed gorgeous Texas cowboys—The Garahan brothers. They live in Pleasure, Texas, just outside of Mesquite, on the Circle G Ranch. The ranch has been in the family for over 150 years and is in danger of going under. Tyler realizes he has to take a night job to help pay for the mortgage and feed bill. But it isn’t as easy as he thought it’d be. He heads into town and Loblolly Way—the last job in Sunday’s paper—where he thinks he’s going to be stocking the shelves and hauling kegs for the owner of the Lucky Star bar. The realization that he’s going to be the main attraction for the ladies’ club has him ready to turn around and walk out, but the club’s fiery redheaded bookkeeper captures his attention and for her, he’ll swallow his pride.

Will this be your first RT or are you a veteran? Any advice for those who are going for the first time?
I’ve been attending RT for a couple of years now, and actually got the idea for TYLER while attending RT in Houston. My advice is to make sure to attend all of the workshops geared toward the first-timer. There is a wealth of information available to help you navigate the convention like a pro! My personal favorite is Anne Elizabeth and Jade Lee’s workshop: The RT Advantage Wed., 4/6/11 from 10:45am to 11:00am. They help those attending put everything into perspective and map out a plan for where to go to get the most out of their first RT experience. There is so much to do, that it can be overwhelming, but with their suggestions, your first RT will definitely not be your last!

Are you speaking on any panels during RT? Are there any you are looking forward to?
I’m going to be busy this year at RT. I’m one of the authors hosting the Western Reader Roundup on Wed. 4/6/11 at 1:00pm – 2:00pm with Lorelei James, Margaret Brownley, Cindy Holby, Cat Johnson, Janette Kenney and Beth Williamson—and Chris Winters Mr. Romance 2008 for TV/moving western trivia, line dancing and prizes!

I’ll be one of the panelists on the Craft Panel: The Good, The Bad, and The Hunky Cowboy on Wed., 4/6/11 @ 3:30-4:30pm with Lorelei James, Cindy Holby and Beth Williamson. We’ll be talking about everything you need to know to write action-packed westerns with historical accuracy from sweet to hot!

On Thurs., 4/7/11 @ 2:45pm to 3:45pm I’m one of the authors hosting the Afternoon Delight Bookseller & Librarian Party with Kate Douglas, Anne Elizabeth, Elizabeth Hoyt, Angela Knight, Jade Lee, Delilah Marvelle and Christina Skye.

On Sat., 4/9/11 @ 11am – 2pm, I’ll be at the Mega-Book Fair signing TYLER: The Secret Life of Cowboys. At 3:30pm – 5:00pm, I’m one of the authors hosting the SOS Military Mixer with Kim Adams, Renee Bernard, Anne Elizabeth, Simone Elkeles, Kathryn Falk, Sherry James, Catherine Mann, Delilah Marvelle, Julie Miller, Caridad Pineiro, Christina Skye.

If someone were wanting to meet up with you at RT, who should they look for?
If you’re looking for me at RT, you can catch me at the Western Reader Roundup or The Good, The Bad, and The Hunky Cowboy Craft Panel On Thursday, I’ll be at the Afternoon Delight Bookseller and Librarian Party. On Saturday, I’ll be at the Book Fair and then the SOS Military Mixer. I’ll be in and out of Club RT and trying to take in as many workshops as possible. There’s one given by the Los Angeles Field Division of the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) that I’m really looking forward to. ;)

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
