Book Giveaway

Don’t get too excited, the books I’m giving away are not that special. I recently decided against going to Law School, and since we are moving and I have to pack up all 400+ books, I figured it would be a good time to pass on some of my political science textbooks. The books are at least five years old, so while they may or may not be current editions, they do give a general idea on their topics and would be a good read for a beginner.

Before I donate them to my local library, I thought I would give someone who wants them a chance at them. So if you’re interesting in any of the following books, let me know and I’ll send them to you. Otherwise, they’ll go to the library in a week.

United States Foreign Policy: Politics Beyond the Waters Edge by Donald M. Snow
Paperback: 415 pages
Publisher: Wadsworth Publishing; 2 edition (July 30, 1999)
ISBN: 978-0312166502
Book Description: This text begins with the assertion that the environment in which foreign policy is made has changed since 1945, especially in the post-Cold War era. Prior to World War II, the nonpartisan, virtually nonpolitical nature of foreign policy was captured in the idea that politics ended at “the water’s edge.” The authors assert, however, that in the post-Cold War era politics extends well beyond a nation’s borders.

The United States In The World: A History Of American Foreign Policy: Vol. II by H.W. Brands
Paperback: 448 pages
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Company; 1 edition (November 22, 1993)
ISBN: 978-0395621813
Book Description: The United States in the World documents the emergence of the U.S. as a major participant in world politics by presenting American history as an integral part of world history. This big picture approach gives students a better perspective on American foreign relations—showcasing U.S. diplomacy as a function of both internal and external events.

Major Problems In American Foreign Relations: Documents And Essays: Volume II (Major Problems in American History Series) by Dennis Merrill and Thomas Paterson
Paperback: 636 pages
Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Company; 5 edition (September 24, 1999)
ISBN: 978-0395938850
Book Description: Designed to encourage critical thinking about history, this reader uses a carefully-selected group of primary sources and analytical essays to allow students to test the interpretations of distinguished historians, and draw their own conclusions on the material presented.

Representative Government in Modern Europe by Michael Gallagher, Michael Laver, Peter Mair
Paperback: 352 pages
Publisher: McGraw-Hill Companies; 2 Sub edition (January 1995)
ISBN: 978-0070366879
Book Description: Formerly a text largely dedicated to Western Europe, this edition was skillfully revised to include substantial new material on the far-reaching changes of Eastern Europe. This expanded coverage, along with the spirited revision of the opening chapters offer students an accessible, modern guide to the politics of Europe. Unlike many rival texts in the field – which depend on a country-by-country listing of dates, places and people – this text continues to offer a richly truly comparative approach.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
