Prince of Souls

MLawrence-Prince of ThornsTor.com has posted an excerpt from Carrie Vaughn’s After the Golden Age, which released April 12th.

Marie Brennan has some fabulous news.  She has just signed a three book deal for a new series with either the first novel or the series being called A Natural History of Dragons.  Right now, the new series is slated for three books, but Marie is saying it could go as long as five novels.

Ilona Andrews has posted the prologue for the third Edge novel, Fate’s Edge, which releases November 29, 2011.

Nalini Singh is doing a US Tour!!  Unfortunately, the closest she will be to me is south of Dayton, Ohio for Lori Foster’s Reader & Author Get Together, but that’s not going to stop me.  I am so going to be there.  Who’s with me?

Author Appearances:

If you’re a fan of short stories, then you should totally be checking out Fifty-Two Stories.  They currently have a copy of great stories – Blake Butler’s The Infusions and Daphne Kolotay’s Sunshine Cleaners.

Subterranean Press has announced that they will be releasing a new Otherworld novella by Kelley Armstrong. Hidden, which will feature full-color illustrations by Angilram, is slated to be released in December.

Hiking through the snow, holiday baking and playing board games by the fire—what’s not to love about an old-fashioned family Christmas?

Werewolves Elena Michaels and Clayton Danvers want to give their four-year-old twins, Kate and Logan, something their parents never had: a nice, normal holiday. No Pack responsibilities, no homicidal half-demons or power-hungry sorcerers to deal with – just the four of them, alone, at a chalet outside Ontario’s Algonquin Park. Then a strange werewolf shows up at their door…while the town is buzzing about a young man, back from college, found half-eaten in the woods. And there’s the missing little girl…

With all the signs pointing to a rogue mutt with a taste for human flesh, Elena and Clay have no choice but to investigate. But are they the hunters—or the hunted?

JOliver-Soul ThiefI’ve been seeing a lot of trailers for the upcoming movie Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, but I’m not real familiar with the Italian comic book that it’s based on.  Thankfully, Suvudu has me covered with their top ten things I should keep in mind.

Charlaine Harris is going to be in Ann Arbor, Michigan on May 16th.  This is going to be a paid signing, so if you’re looking to go, you’ll need to purchase a ticket, which went on sale today.

I do have to say, I am liking the covers Jana Oliver has been getting for her Demon Trapper’s Daughter series.  What do you think of Soul Thief‘s cover?  I especially like the contrast of the blue and black/gray.  This is only one of many fabulous covers that have been popping up. For all the new covers, I’ve added them to the FB album for your viewing pleasure.

Speaking of Jennifer Estep, she has not only announced the title to the second Mythos Academy novel – Kiss of Frost, but she has also posted the back cover copy.

Logan Quinn was trying to kill me. My Spartan classmate relentlessly pursued me, swinging his sword at me over and over again, the shining silver blade inching closer to my throat every time. A smile tugged up his lips, and his ice-blue eyes practically glowed with the thrill of battle …

I’m Gwen Frost, a second-year warrior-in-training at Mythos Academy, and I have no idea how I’m going to survive the rest of the semester. One day, I’m getting schooled in swordplay by the guy who broke my heart — the drop-dead gorgeous Logan who slays me every time. Then, an invisible archer in the Library of Antiquities decides to use me for target practice. And now, I find out that someone at the academy is really a Reaper bad guy who wants me dead. I’m afraid if I don’t learn how to live by the sword — with Logan’s help — I just might die by the sword …

Jennifer has also posted two new short stories that take place in her Elemental Assassins world. The first story, Tangled Threads, takes place after Venom and is told by Jo-Jo Deveraux and her sister, Sophia Deveraux. The second story, Tangled Schemes, is from Bria’s point of view as she searches for her sister, Gin. Plus, RT Book Reviews has posted an excerpt from Jennifer Estep’s Touch of Frost, which is due out.

Sea Lion Books has acquired the rights to transform Becca Fitzpatrick’s Hush, Hush into a graphic novel.  The first volume is scheduled to debut sometime this winter and Fitzpatrick is already showing off some of the sketches. Have you been wondering what Patch and Nora woudl look like?

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. Thanks for the link to Jennifer Estep’s short stories. I’m so eager to finally get my hands on Tangled Threads next week, but those two stories helped tide me over and reminded me of why I’m totally hooked on the series. I have very few auto-buys these days, but the Elemental Assassin series is one of them.

  2. @Mark – your cover was included in the article because I just recently found it. I have a thing against imageless posts and since your cover wasn’t flooding my reader, I felt the need to show it off. *grin*
