Reading Tangled Threads by Jennifer Estep was like having Christmas in April. The fact that it’s Christmas in Ashland, where Tangled Threads takes place, merely enhanced that feeling.

Granted, blood and violence aren’t associated with spreading Christmas cheer, but Gin is forgoing the Scrooge route and doing her latest assassination work “pro-f***ing-bono.” For those who are new to the series, I won’t give away Gin’s reasons why she went pro-bono, but despite her tough exterior, Gin is really a marshmallow at heart.
When I call Gin a fluffball, I don’t mean she is one of those characters who rolls over and hides when times get tough. Just the opposite in fact. Gin rushes out into the middle of the battles and kicks butt better than everyone else. Though she is on the receiving end of a few butt kickings herself, but she’s always able to walk, or hobble, away in the end. However, Gin is a marshmallow at heart because no matter what the situation is, she will try her hardest to save innocent bystanders, children or someone who Gin may feel indebted to. She’s like a superhero, saving the innocents and killing the villains.
Tangled Threads is, in my opinion, the best Gin Blanco novel so far. Not only are there lots of epic battle scenes, but Gin is forced to confront her feelings for the sexy, oh so yummy, Owen Grayson and her conflicted emotions over how to admit her secret job to her baby sister. The mix of fighting and dealing with emotions, create a fast plot that will keep readers on the edge of their seat for the entire ride.
