Vanishing News

Check out the UK cover for Kat Richardson’s newest novel, Vanished. I’m still curious as to where Tez found it since I check out Richardson’s blog and website and didn’t see it there.  Vanished, the fourth Greywalker novel, will hit shelves August 4, 2009.

<begin rant>Seriously? What is it with people who think they can dictate to others?  I am probably so far out of the loop, but I was amazed when I saw this post on George RR Martin’s blog today.  Are there really people out there who think authors don’t have lives outside of their novels?  C’mon people, get with the program.  Writing is not the only thing in an authors life.  Think of it this way, is reading the only thing going on in your life?  Why would you assume the reverse is true then.<end rant>

I did find out some interesting news…the next Hex novel is tentatively titled Hex in High Heels (if you have read the novels, you should be able to guess who this one is about).  It also has a release date of sometime in October, but nothing concrete yet.

Just thought I would give everyone a teaser as to what is coming up at Literary Escapism.  On Tuesday, we have Linda Wisdom stopping by to chat with us for a bit and she will also be offering up a copy of Wicked by Any Other Name.  On the 10th, author Terry Spears will be here and we’ll be giving away a copy of her latest release, Destiny of the Wolf.

CONTEST ALERTS:
I’m excited about this contest. Jory Strong is giving away 2 ARCs of her upcoming novel, Ghostland and I would love to get my hands on a copy.  The contest started awhile ago and it ends on Sunday (I just saw it this morning), so if you want a chance to get into the contest, you need to move now.

You still have time to enter the contests here for a copy of Kim Harrison’s White Witch, Black Curse and for a copy of Cheryl Brook’s Rogue.  If you want another chance to earn Brooks novel, then head on over to Bitten by Books where Cheryl is guest blogging and giving away a copy of Rogue as well.

Cynthia Eden is having a contest for the release of her newest novel, Immortal Danger.  This is another huge contest (with cash and ARCs prizes) and it ends March 29th.

Immortal Danger, In life, Maya Black was one tough cop. In death…well, once bitten, twice the bitch. Creatures of the night-be afraid. www.cynthiaeden.com

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I thought <a href=”http://www.patrickrothfuss.com/blog/2009/02/concerning-release-of-book-two.html”this was a pretty good commentary about the GRR Martin issue.

  2. Ah, you must’ve missed clicking the Original link on the post – I linked to the Amazon UK source. Aye, I’ve been obsessively working on my lists again ;-)

Thanks for the shout-out (my ego loves you), and have a lovely day! :-)

  3. The contest to win an ARC of Ghostland actually ends on March 8! I’ll be drawing one winner on March 1st, then another in a week. Names not picked this Sunday remain in the running for a chance to win next week.

  4. Umm… the reason I don’t have any of the covers for Vanished posted is that I’ve only received the approval drafts, not the official ones. I also don’t have any blurbs or extracts up because I’m still going through the copyedit and the copy is not final. If the covers are up at the publisher’s site or Amazon, they are usually “final.” The author, as they say, is the last to know….
