BE: Sookie Stackhouse vs. True Blood TONIGHT

True Blood Season 4I love the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris; so I was equally happy to hear it was being made into a television show. Well, I was happy until I heard it was going to be on HBO (which I don’t have), but honestly that is the best place for it to be. True Blood is definitely a hit, and while it is based on the books, the show isn’t the same. Yes there are similarities, but when it comes to television, things that take pages to say in a book, can be done in seconds on screen. So there are going to be differences. But what do you think – are you happy with the changes? Did they totally screw something up? Is Ryan Kwanten who you pictured as Jason? Larissa (from Larissa’s Bookish Life), Day (from Paperback Dolls) and I want to know. So please join us at Talk Shoe on TONIGHT at 9pm EST and let’s talk about it.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I can’t do the call in, but I love both reading the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire series and watching True Blood on HBO and had to chime in. I concur, True Blood definitely found a good home on HBO so that it can shine in all the right ways.

I love the casting of the show, even if some of the actors aren’t exactly as I imagined in my cranium when I read the books before the show started. Now, when I listen to the books, I see the actors as the characters make their appearances. I am especially happy with the actors portraying Jason and Eric for my own shallow reasons….. *smile*
