Brooks, Pettersson, Black and Jay Winners

Contest WinnersSee…I said I would post the winners on Monday. Okay, so maybe I’m a week late, but I have them now. However, before we get to the winners, I just wanted to mention that there were 60 entries for the Swag Giveaway. Wow guys. That’s, like, three times the number from the first time I did this. Sweet. I haven’t had a chance to sit down and figure out who gets what yet, but I’ll be doing that as soon as I can get to the store to get envelopes. I’ll be emailing the winners by Friday to let them know their swag is on its way. I’m putting together another swag contest, this one even bigger, and I’ll have that one posted in the next day or two as well.

Now on to the winners….

Cheryl Brooks

I had the wonderful Cheryl Brooks on Literary Escapism talking about science fiction and what is in it for urban fantasy readers. While she was here, we gave away two copies of Virgin. In order to enter, all anyone had to do was answer: [regarding SF/SFR] What appeals to you as a reader? What would you like to see more or less of?. Now, without further ado, the winners are:

NANCY B who said: Even though I read all genres I’ve never been a big sci-fi fan. Cheryl’s books are an exception because she has the ability to combine humor, erotica and romance exceptionally well. Anytime an author can give me LOL moments combined with heat is a winner in my library. Cheryl’s characters whether human like or not have a personality and I find myself attached to some of them as strongly as the main characters in the story. That takes a special skill and enormous imagination.

MYRANDA who said: Ooo…this book sounds interesting! :) I don’t read a whole lot of SF/SFR, so I’ll go with something general that I don’t like in romances. I get so tired of the “mis-understanding” that makes a couple break up or leave each other or whatever! I dread that moment and it drives me crazy. That’s not to say that I can’t enjoy books that have this element, it can just sometime’s drive me up the wall.

Congratulations Nancy and Myranda!

Vicki Pettersson

Thanks to the wonderful people at Harper Collins, I was given four copies of Cheat the Grave by Vicki Pettersson to give away to my wonderful readers. In order to enter, all anyone had to do was answer: What are you going to miss about Joanna and this wonderful series? For those of us who haven’t read, or finished, it yet, why should we? If you haven’t read it, why not? . Now, without further ado, the winners are:

KIMBERLY B who said: Oh, gosh! I had no idea the series was ending! Well, hopefully it’s not the last we’ll hear from Vicki Pettersson.

Those of you who haven’t read this series yet should because it offers an innovative, totally non-campy take on superheroes, and the mythology is fascinating! Not to mention that Joanna is a great character, strong but capable of making mistakes–and learning from them!

CRYSTAL who said: I’m going to miss Joanna’s determination and spunk, her sarcastic comments and just the incredibly emotional ride of her life, she is truly one of a kind…and Hunter, I will def. miss her and Hunter together(or the gut wrenching times when they’re apart).

LADYVAMPIRE who said: I haven’t read this series because I have not been aware of it. But now that I am, I would enjoy winning this book and I will get a hold of the rest of the series so I can be caught up. Thanks for entering me your giveaway.

S LION who said: The Sign of the Zodiac series is so unique in its design. I was taken back about how much I was invested in Joanna’s struggles as a character as the series unwounded towards this final installment. I will be sad to see the series end because tasting the battles of Shadow and Light has been a magnificent escape into another world that I will truly miss.

Congratulations Kimberly, Crystal, LadyVampire and SLion!

Jenna Black and Stacey Jay

Thanks to the wonderful people at Simon & Schuster, I was given two copies each of Dark Descendant by Jenna Black and Dead on the Delta by Stacy Jay to give away to my wonderful readers. In order to enter, all anyone had to do was answer: What new author or series have you recently discovered?. Now, without further ado, the winners are:

Dark Descendant
MELISSA P who said: I’ve just discovered Ann Aquirre. Blue Diablo is good stuff! I just ordered the second and am getting ready to read Grimspace as well. Not sure why I put this one off as long as I did.

TERESA S who said: I have just read Michelle Rowen’s Nightshade and I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. I am looking forward to the next in the series, Bloodlust.

Dead on the Delta
JEN M who said: I just read Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison because of all the buzz and I adored it. Luckily book 2 is coming out in August. Both the Jenna Black and Stacey Jay books sound great and I’d love to try them.

BARBARA E who said: The new author I’ve recently discovered is Kevin Hearne and his series The Iron Druid Chronicles, starting with Hounded. Also, J.N. Duncan and Deadworld.

Congratulations Melissa, Teresa, Jen and Barbara!

Winners!

You have one week to send me an email at jackie AT literaryescapism DOT com, with the contest you won in the subject line, otherwise I’ll draw a new name when I post the current contest winners next weekend.

As always, I determined the winners by inputting all the entries into the List Randomizer, scrambling it up a couple of times, and then had the Research Randomizer pick a number.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
