Anya Bast has a new novel coming out in October 2008. The Chosen Sin focuses on Daria Morris who is a special forces agent about to become the one thing she despises in order to seek vengence against the vampire who almost destroyed her. The premise sounds interesting, but it has the potential to be just another vampire novel. Hopefully, Bast will work her magic and it’ll be more than “just another”.

Carrie Vaughn will be making a couple of appearances over the next two months: Stories for All Seasons 6/14 @ 7:00 pm, West Side Books, Denver & OSFest 7/11-7/13 in Omaha, Nebraska. I don’t know if I’ve said this in the past or not, but the fifth and sixth novels for the Kitty series have titles. The novels will be Kitty and the Dead Man’s Hand and Kitty Raises Hell respectively. According to her site, they are suppose to be coming out some time next year.

I also found some cover art for the new Riley Jensen novel, Deadly Desire, by Keri Arthur. Isn’t it pretty?

Okay, sorry about this, but…….FANGIRL SQUEEL!!!! There’s a new excerpt up for Diana Gabaldon’s An Echo in the Bone. Yes, I’ve read it and it just makes me even more anxious for it to come out. I keep praying that it makes it out this year.

There’s information on Janet Evanovich’s Fearless Fourteen Tour. So far, there are a total of six dates during the month of June. Unfortunately, she doesn’t get close enough to Michigan, but if you’re interested, click here to see where she’s going to be. Evanovich has also started the Name 15 Contest. The contest runs until August 31st and if you’re one of the lucky winners, you’ll get an advance copy of #15. Head over if you think you have a good one.

Kelley Armstrong is going to be making some appearances this summer. Check her website for more details.

The third novel in MaryJanice Davidson’s Fred the Mermaid series will be out November 25th and it will be called Fish Out of Water. Forgive me if this is old news, but it’s new to me. She’s also putting out another three novella anthology called Rreally Unusual Bad Boys that will be out September 2nd.

Charlaine Harris is going to be featured at Barnes & Noble’s Center Stage June 2nd – 6th. Plus, I’ve found some True Blood stills and spoilers. I’m told there are some spoilers in it, but I haven’t seen anything glaringly obvious yet. So I feel a little better…an actor I really like, Stephen Root, signed on for a three episode arc for True Blood. Now I’m really getting excited about this show.

Jeri Smith-Ready is guest blogging about the Wicked Game soundtrack at the Parkersburg (WV) News-Sentinel, which reviewed the book earlier this month.

If anyone is in for an obscure movie, Grave of the Vampire, (released 1979) was reviewed by Talisin Meets the Vampires.

It was announced that James Earle McCracken’s debut novel, Rue de La Pompe: A Satiric Urban Fantasy, has been released via Amazon. I’ve never heard of him either, but he’s novels title caught my eye. I think I’m going to have to try and get my hands on it.

SFCrowsnest.com has an interview with fantasy author Marie Brennan.

And a new section I’m adding to the newsletter, here’s what I’ve read over the last month with links to their reviews:

  2. The Darkest Kiss by Keri Arthur
  3. Minion by LA Banks
  4. Enchanted Inc. by Shanna Swendson

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
