Goddess with a Blade by Lauren Dane

LDane-Goddess with a BladeLauren Dane is most known for her sinfully hot erotic novels but her latest release, Goddess with a Blade, shows that she can also write an amazing, kick ass story, with a bit more violence and plot than sex.

Rowan Summerwaite is no ordinary woman. Physical vessel to the Celtic Goddess Brigid and raised by the leader of the Vampire Nation, she’s a supercharged hunter with the power to slay any vampire who violates the age-old treaty.

A recent string of murders has her at odds with Las Vegas’s new Scion, the arrogant and powerful Clive Stewart. The killings have the mark of Vampire all over them, and Rowan warns Clive to keep his people in line—or she’ll mete out her own brand of justice.

Though her dealings with Clive are adversarial to say the least, Rowan is intensely aware of her attraction to him. But she can’t let it distract her from her duty—to find and battle the killer before more women die.

From the start, Rowan was a bad ass, taking charge and inflicting fear in the vampires she’s in charge of policing. She did have a softer side that would emerge around her friends, but when it came to her job nothing kept her from her goal.

While Rowan was loud in her power, Clive was a quiet force that was just as powerful. Yet both were equally stubborn and would often refuse to admit that the other was right (even if they knew it to be so). That would lead to verbal sparring, which, for them was just another form of foreplay. So it wasn’t a surprise that when these two finally got together, they practically burned the sheets and left me fanning myself.

The plot was just as intense, filled with drama and a mystery that kept me guessing until the very end.

Even though Goddess with a Blade didn’t end with a setup for a sequel, I really do hope that there will be more stories with Rowan and Clive.

  1. Thanks for the review! I had this book preordered for my Kindle and I kinda forgot about it. Now, it’s top of my Kindle TBR pile :)
