Double Circus Flycon

Damn. I am loving the cover for Ann Aguirre’s Doubleblind, the third Sirantha Jax novel.  Seriously, is this just not an awesome cover.  It’s different from the first two novels in the the colors are a little more lighter, flirty….girly maybe, but I am digging it.  I’ve been keeping my eyes open for when Doubleblind is expected to hit the shelves, but it’s still just an October release.  No definite date yet.  Here’s the blurb if anyone is interested.

Edited to Add on 3/13:  The cover has been adjusted a little.  We still have the same gorgeous cover, but now it’s not as girly or flirty.

More Weekly Geeks fun and this time, I’m in a Patricia Briggs type of mood…

Over a lifetime of dealing with difficult women, I have learned it is often better to give into their demands immediately. – When Demons Walk by Patricia Briggs

“That’s a pretty lame superhero name,” [Mercy] told him. / “Scooby-Doo is already taken,” [Stefan] said with dignity. “Anything else sounds lame in comparison.” – Stefan”- Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs

In more Twilight news, one of the evil members of the Volturi has been casted. Dakota Fanning is going to be Jane in New Moon.  I don’t know.  For some reason, whenever I think of Dakota Fanning, I have this image of a sweet little girl and now she is now going to play an evil vampire.

Check out this SciFi/Fantasy convention that Jeri Smith-Ready is participating in.  Flycon 2009 is an international, round-the-clock sf/f convention, complete with panels, a dealers’ room, and even a costuming track and it’s all available through Flycon’s LiveJournal community page.  That’s right. You can attend this convention from the couch of your own home (well, if you have a laptop or a really sweet desktop setup).  Here’s the schedule of events, but make sure you’re looking in the right time column for any panels you want to visit.   There are 5 different time zones shown and you really don’t want to look at the New Zealand time if you’re like me and live in the Eastern timezone of the US.

  4. Valkyrie with 7 nominations
  5. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Changeling each with 6 nominations each

Check out the cover hotness that Tez found at Orbit Books. It’s the cover for the third Jill Kismet novel, Flesh CircusAccording to Tez, it’s slated for a December 2009 release, but it’s not up at Amazon yet.  It’s still a little early though.

The Examiner is giving us a taste of what is going to happen in New Moon.  I’m still waiting until November to see how they do it.  I’ve heard too many rumors that they want to make New Moon focus more on Edward than what the book is actually about.

Make sure you head over to Suburban Vampire today.  Catherine has posted a lot of vampire movie/television news.

Man, Access Entertainment has this deleted scene from Twilight that is awesome.  Granted, I can see why they didn’t include it since I don’t remember it from the novel, but it’s hot.

If anyone is interested, Harlequin is celebrating 60 years this year and has a bunch of novels available for free download.  I’m not a huge Harlequin fan myself, but I am of free.

So has anyone heard of the new HBO show, The Wonderful Maladys, that is now in production?  It looks like it’s going to air sometime this fall, but the only reason I noticed it was for the casting.  Sarah Michelle Geller (Buffy) and Molly Parker (Deadwood) have been casted as siblings in this dysfunctional drama.

I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I’m still waiting for my copy. My cousin went to the Briggs signing in Ann Arbor last month and bought me a copy and had her sign it, but I haven’t seen my cousin to get it yet. I will this weekend!
