Write a Post Help a Dog Campaign 2011

Pedigree BlogPaws PostcardWhen it comes to charity, I love doing whatever I can.  Every year, I donate thousands of dollars worth of household items to organizations like Salvation Army, The Purple Heart Foundation and Goodwill. Last year there was the Childs Play Giveaway with prizes from 40+ different authors with all entries being donations (we raised over $300!).  If there’s something I can do, then I try and do it.  Monetary donations are a little tricker for me, but when I come across a charity drive where all I have to do is write a blog post, than I’m totally going to do it.

Nikki brought the Write a Post, Help a Dog Campaign to my attention and it’s such a fabulous idea.  I don’t know why other organizations haven’t tried something like this before. The Campaign runs during the weeks preceding and during the BlogPaws Conference, which is a con for Pet Bloggers, Pet Brands, and Pet Health Care Professionals.  For last years Campaign, there was a fabulous turnout of 391 bloggers and considering Pedigree donated 20 pounds of its Healthy Longevity dog food per blog post, Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco and Castaway Critters in Harrisburg, Pa. ended up with 7,820 pounds of food.

This year, they are trying to beat last years numbers and Literary Escapism is jumping on the bandwagon.  It’s simple – all you have to do is put up a quick post that mentions the fabulous Write a Post, Help a Dog Campaign.  So I’m going challenge every one of my readers to writing a post this weekend, spreading the word about this fabulous Campaign.  Seriously, it’s really easy to do, just make sure you mention this information below:

Simply spread the word about Write a Post, Help a Dog 2011 and once again Pedigree will donate 20 pounds of food for each blog post.  If you don’t have a blog feel free to tweet about the campaign or share on Facebook so your friends who do blog can participate. All bloggers are welcome even if you do not generally talk about pets on your blog. Its all about using Social Media for Social Good. How you can help:

  • The Write a Post, Help a Dog program is aimed at raising awareness of the four million dogs who wind up in shelters and rescues every year, as well as helping them all get food (our goal is 10,000 pounds of food in the next two weeks.)
  • For each blog post about Write a Post, Help a Dog, mentioning the Pedigree Foundation, published anytime through midnight ET September 3, Pedigree will donate 20 pounds of its new dry Pedigree recipe food–its best recipe ever–to a shelter, because dog deserves leading nutrition.
  • Go to Two Little Cavaliers and sign up for the blog hop, so that everyone will see your post!  If you don’t have a blog, you can tweet about the campaign, or post about it on Facebook, so that your friends who do blog can participate.
  • The Pedigree Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is committed to helping dogs by providing grants to shelters and rescues, and encouraging dog adoption. This year the Foundation has already raised $376,570 toward its goal of $1.5 million to fund grants that not only help shelters operate, but also foster shelter innovations.

Isn’t that really easy?  It’ll only take you 5 minutes to throw something up on your site, so you’re going to do it, right?  If you need a little more persuading, how about a box full of swag?  Remember the Swag Bag Contest from earlier this summer?  Well, one of the prizes was never claimed and it’s sitting here all pretty, ready to head to the post office.  It needs a home, someplace other than my office floor, so anyone who writes up a post, tweets or shares the Write a Post, Help a Dog Campaign info on Facebook and then comes back here and leaves a link to it (don’t forget to add it to the blog hop at Two Little Cavaliers) in the comments below, will get entered for a chance to win it.  If you’re going to tweet or share a link on facebook, make sure you do the original Two Little Cavaliers link since they have all the information.  I really want this box gone (I keep tripping over it *grin*), so we’re going to make this a quick contest.  You have until the 31st to leave a comment below with your link and I’ll announce the winner on the 1st.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
