Squealing About the Books in the Mail

Okay, I don’t normally do a “books in the mail” post simply because I don’t get a lot of books in the mail all at once.  However, today, that is not the case.  Check out what I got in the mail today:

Magic Strikes by Ilona Andrews – hell yeah.  The third Kate Daniels book and it’s all mine!  My hubby will actually be happy since he won’t have to worry about me rushing out the door on March 31st to pick it up.

Drafted into working for the Order of Merciful Aid, mercenary Kate Daniels has more paranormal problems than she knows what to do with these days. And in Atlanta, where magic comes and goes like the tide, that’s saying a lot.

But when Kate’s werewolf friend Derek is discovered nearly dead, she must confront her greatest challenge yet. As her investigation leads her to the Midnight Games – an invitation only, no holds barred, ultimate preternatural fighting tournament – she and Curran, the Lord of the Beasts, uncover a dark plot that may forever alter the face of Atlanta’s shapeshifting community…

Ghostland by Jory Strong. This is another one I’ve been trying to get my hands on.  I entered a contest over at Dear Author when they had a whole pile of ARCs to give away and this was one of them! Granted, it doesn’t have the gorgeous cover, but that just means I will still get to go buy it.

In a post-Apocalyptic world where supernaturals have emerged from hiding, wealthy humans delight in decadence while the religious gain power through temptation. For the masses, fear reigns from birth to death, and the afterlife holds beings that only the bravest can summon—or dare to desire…

Eternal Moon by Rebecca York. This was another one from the Dear Author contest.  I’ll be honest, there was a different one that I wanted, but not because I didn’t want it or anything, but beacuse I haven’t read this series yet.  If this wasn’t the 10th book in the series, I would be all over it, but that’s too many books before this one to say I’m going to read it anytime soon.  I need to get to a few other books first.

Good and evil clash down through the ages in a struggle for supremacy. Renata Cordona is the reincarnation of an ancient goddess. Werewolf Jacob Marshall is a dog whisperer and her true consort. They have met countless times through the centuries in different lives. And each time, a demon steps into the equation to keep them from fulfilling their destiny. They’ve never been strong enough to fight the ancient evil. But can a werewolf change the equation? Or will they repeat the pattern of destruction and doom humanity along with themselves?

And the last novel is The Accidental Human by Dakota Cassidy. I’ve been hearing a lot about this author and I have The Accidental Werewolf sitting on my desk right now.  Now I can’t wait to start reading them.

Wanda Schwartz is raking in the dough selling Bobbie-Sue Cosmetics—and she’s a pro at recruiting new saleswomen. So, she’s shocked when a man comes to one of her in-home parties—a very hot man. Heath Jefferson is sure to put some extra spin into a lot of women’s color wheels.

When Wanda is diagnosed with a terminal illness, it doesn’t have to be a death sentence. With a werewolf and a vampire for best friends, she has options that most ordinary people wouldn’t. As Wanda ponders what to do about her mortality, Heath reveals he has secrets, and one of them is that his former bloodlust has turned into an old-fashioned lust—for Wanda. And he’s already given up too much to lose the love of his lifetimes.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. i want them all! I have just had to write them all on my list. Especially like the sound of Ghostland and The Accidental Human. Where is this site you mentioned called Dear Author – sounds fabulous!

  2. You don’t have to have read the Moon Book series to enjoy the individual books. They are written so that each story stands alone. (Although you do meet characters from the previous books.) Don’t put ETERNAL MOON aside because the series is long running. It’s the same with the 43 Light Street series. Each book is it’s own story.

  3. I wasn’t going to put it aside, no worries about that, but Eternal Moon will get read faster now that I know I won’t have to wait for the other books from the library. I generally try to read the books in order since there are usually references to past points, but I won’t worry about that then.
