Dying Night Scam

SButcher-Dying WishJeri Smith-Ready has posted the fifth chapter to her online serial, Let It Bleed.  Haven’t started it yet?  Here are chapters One, Two, Three  and Four.

Tor.com has posted an excerpt from AJ Hartley’s Will Power.

These are only a few of the fabulous covers that have been popping up lately. For all the new covers, I’ve added them to the FB album for your viewing pleasure.

Author Appearances:

DC Comics has begun releasing the New 52 and Tor.com has all the details on the new comics. If you’re curious to see what the new Action Comics, Detective Comics, Justice League or any of the other new reboots – then check out Tor’s list of reader guides.

Suvudu has the fantastic news that Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series was just acquired by Dreamworks Studios. While this does mean we’ll get to see Barrons and Mac on the big screen, there’s no mention as to when.

ESMoore-Walk the NightSF Signal has posted the table of contents for the upcoming anthology The Immersion Book of Steampunk edited by Gareth Jones and Carmelo Rufala.  This looks like it could be a pretty good collection of finding new steampunk authors.  Of all the authors listed, the only name I recognized was Lavie Tidhar. The Immersion Book of Steampunk will be available September 20th.

Ann Aguirre has the fabulous news.  She’s sold a new trilogy to Ace and we’ll get the first novel in 2013.  This is another science fiction series (yea!) that is being described as a prison break in space.  Aguirre has also sold two more novels, these ones will be a steampunk whodunit that will be co-authored by Andres Aguirre.  Either the first title or the series will be named Bronze Gods, however there’s no mention of a possible release schedule.

RT Book Reviews has the scoop on a few new book deals that have surfaced.  Some of the exciting news found includes the details on a new anthology titled Rags and Bones which will be edited by Melissa Marr and Tim Pratt.  The collection will focus on classic tales retold as short stories by some of today’s fabulous genre authors (Neil Gaiman, Kelley Armstrong and Carrie Ryan just to name a few).  Rags and Bones is slated for a Fall 2013 release.  Another deal mentioned is a new series for Gini Koch, which will involve a shapeshifting con artist who is jetting around the universe.  The first novel, A Royal Scam, is said to be out in October, but it’s not up on Amazon yet.  The last deal that caught my eye was the news that Scott Westerfeld’s Uglies series will include a new graphic novel. Uglies: Shay’s Story will be illustrated by Devin Grayson and Steven Cummings.  No word on when it’s expected to be released.  There’s plenty more deals going down, so check out the full posting at RT Book Reviews.

Reading with Tequila has found several good deals on books at Amazon.

It may be September, but Patricia’s Vampire Notes is making sure you haven’t forgotten all of the fabulous titles that came out in August.

I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.
