Picture Book Contest: Day 2

JButcher-Storm Front Vol 1Today’s picture book giveaway is Jim Butcher’s Storm Front: Volume 1:

A graphic novel based on the bestselling Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher!

If circumstances surrounding a crime defy the ordinary and evidence points to a suspect who is anything but human, the men and women of the Chicago Police Department call in the one guy who can handle bizarre and often brutal phenomena. Harry Dresden is a wizard who knows firsthand that the everyday world is actually full of strange and magical things—most of which don’t play well with humans.

Now the cops have turned to Dresden to investigate a horrifying double murder that was committed with black magic. Never one to turn down a paycheck, Dresden also takes on another case—to find a missing husband who has quite likely been dabbling in sorcery. As Dresden tries to solve the seemingly unrelated cases, he is confronted with all the Windy City can blow at him, from the mob to mages and all creatures in between.

There is now an official giveaway policy, so if there’s any question, please consult that. However, all of LE’s contests have gotten simpler. All you have to do is answer this question: Will all the new UF/PNR series getting their own graphic novels, which one has turned out the best for you? Got all the characters right or gave you the images you wanted? Remember, you must answer the question in order to be entered.

The contest will close at 8:30am EST tomorrow morning – you only have 24 hours. I’ll determine the winners with help from the snazzy new plug-in I have this weekend.  I have not been contacting winners, so you will need to check back to see if you’ve won.

I am a 30-something SAHM with two adorable boys and a supportive husband who is very tolerant of my reading addiction. I love to read and easily go through about a dozen books a month – well I did before I had kids. Now, not so much. After my first son was born, I began to take my hobby of reviewing a little more serious and started Literary Escapism to help with my sanity. I love to discuss the fabulous novels I’ve read and meeting all the wonderful people in the book blogging community has been amazing.

  1. I have become such a graphic novel fan!! I haven’t seen this one yet. I think it is easier to enjoy Graphic novels based on books if you haven’t read the original novel yet. That way you don’t have any preconceived ideas. The True Blood comics didn’t do anything for me, but I have been reading the Dark Swam comics (haven’t read the books) and I am LOVING it . I recently bought the first Patricia Briggs comic, but haven’t read it yet (or the books) so I am looking forward to that.

I haven’t read any of Butcher’s books, but want to so bad! It would be a good time for me to try this comic series.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  2. I recently got the graphic novel based on Charlaine Harris’ Harper Connelly series. I really like it. I’ve never really been into any kind of comics or anything but that graphic novel is well done. I’ve read the actual series of books but the graphic really hooked me and I want to see what was gonna happen next. I’m looking forward to checking out more graphic novels. It just seems to engage another part of the imagination.

  3. i liked anita blake.. quit reading the comics after the first or second book version though..
    loved patricia brigg’s homecoming..

ps i didnt know charlaine harris had them!!

  4. I haven’t seen any graphic novels yet, but I love the Dresden Series books, liked the tv series and was sad when it was cancelled, so I would love a chance to check out the Dresden graphic novel.

  5. With all the new UF/PNR series getting their own graphic novels, which one has turned out the best for me,got all the characters right & gave me the images I wanted? = Blood Work by Kim Harrison. Just a great read, wonderful images, and the backstory of Ivy & Rachel. A must for fans of the Hollows. Homecoming is on my buy list though.
